After 22 successful sessions, today's session ended in complete failure. Heart and head said "YES", but no matter what I did, the legs just kept saying "NO!"
Set out on the 5 minute warm up full of confidence, even though Tuesday was tough, I was still looking forward to today. Then warm up complete, off I went. A slower pace than usual as I was determined to complete the run. But just 6 or 7 minutes in, it was like some one pressed the 'OFF' switch in the legs.
Pausing the session I walked for a few minutes in the hope the legs would recover. However, virtually as soon as I restarted, the legs went again. Gutted!
Turning to walk back home, I though I would give it one more try but to no avail. So that was it, W8R2 CANCELLED. I will now take a few days off and try again on Sunday. Hopefully this is a one off and I will be back in the game.
Disappointed but not deflated . . . . graduation just put back a few days.

Great attitude - it’s not a failure but a practice run. The heat, any tiredness from the last run, stress, Mercury in the wrong alignment with Mars, anything can trigger a bad run.
Enjoy the real one when you do it - wise to leave a few days as you say.
Oh no. Don't feel despondent- I keep telling people on here you only fail by never trying in the first place. You still got out there & gave it a shot - that's more than people who are still sitting on the couch. Look how far you have come - W8 -R2 - you ran for 28 mins in R1 bet you never imagined that in W1 did you? You've done it before & you will do it again. You can do this. I'm due to do that one on Sunday - I found R1 tough so I'll keep you posted. In fact - if you do it on Sunday we can do it together! Good luck & keep us posted. You got this.
The EXACT same thing happened to me today! W8r2, and 22 successful runs behind me, feeling confident. I just couldn't push past 14 minutes, my body wouldn't do it. I felt so disappointed, and can't understand why it was so hard. I've done all outside runs so far so I might give me next run à go on the treadmill.
It's so frustrating. You get so far with no problems and then, with the finish line insight, system failure. Perhaps this run is the C25K version of hitting the wall.
As everyone else has said - not a fail - you got out there and gave it a go. I really struggled with W7 & had to redo R1. Kept at it & finished W8 today. Really didn’t think I would do it & had to slow down but I got there & so will you. 🙂
I like the honesty of people here on C25K, everything is not all okay doky as they say in Scotland, so far my runs on C25K have been okay doky but if I do have a failure like not being able to complete any run I would be honest and tell you all, I would not lie at any time, I would not even keep silent, I just would say that today was a "a bad day at the office" so to speak.
It would be so easy to let the session run its course, then click on save. But who are you cheating? Got to be honest with yourself AlMorr and like you, this is what I love about this forum, people share the bad days as well as the good days.
I think I might have an excuse. My route takes me passed a fish and chip shop and the wind direction today blew that wonderful aroma straight up my nostrils. So it wasn't fatigue that was the problem but cartoon syndrome, you know the one, where the smell of food lifts you up and carries you towards it. Damn those delicious chips. . . grrrrrrr!
Sorry to hear your run didn't work out today, but good attitude to have about trying again in a few days. As for today, could you have been dehydrated? That is something that I stuggle with, as despite the best of intentions I never seem to drink enough water.
No no no no ... definitely not a fail. We all have runs that don't go as well as we'd hope but you just have to put them behind you and get on with the next one.
You're doing so well, wk8 is well on the way to completing the program. So take your rest days and go for it on Sunday.
Firstly, congratulations on reaching W8 intact. It's all been said, you've done brilliantly and sometimes you just need more rest. It's a big ask this couch to 5K lark. When I feel extra tired I take am extra day or two rest. Yes, it's frustrating when it impacts the next week's run agenda, but life will go on and it's only a day here or there. After doing W9R1 on Tuesday, we've taken an extra day before R2 which we'll do tomorrow, so graduation pushed back until Sunday. It was either that or struggle and suffer a bad run more than likely. I've also realised that the strength training on rest days really was important. Down to Argos for a gym ball and making amends now.
We need to make a list of what we should've done from the beginning and what we'd have liked to have known from day 1.
It'll all come right again, you've done the work, you're just a little fatigued. Chin up!
Dont be waiting for me to catch up and cross the line together because I am only at Week 6 r2 tomorrow, your attitude is great I bet there are not many peeps doing this that get to the end and say that every run was fine and it was a breeze so good luck for next time I am sure you will smash it
Just completed W9R2, one more to go on Sunday and we're there. Happy to hear you're are finding the 25min runs ok. Every non-stop run is an achievement, and you will graduate this month aswell - GO CLASS OF JUNE 2018!
