Injured 😩

Hi everyone

I’ve managed to get to wk5 and did run 1 on Sunday. I’ve somehow managed to pull my lower back whilst bending down this morning and don’t dare run tonight in case I do more damage!

I’m gutted as I’ve stuck to this every other day for nearly a month and although I’m finding it quite tough ive done it!

If I can get back to it tomorrow or Thursday do you think I should go back a few runs or just continue from where I left off?

Don’t want to lose my motivation 😬

Hi, Strange as it may seem, I also put my back out at the start of week 5 !!! I was gutted at the time as i was very focused on what for me was a big milestone week. I just had to trust my own judgement to know when to run again. I gave it 2 or 3 rest days before getting back out there and thankfully the back has remained ok since. I think you've just got to judge this for yourself and wait for the pain and discomfort to go before getting back out there.

Thank you. I’ll see how it is over the next few days and go from there

Really sorry about your back - so frustrating! You know your back better than us - if you are able to get out in the next few days then I would just head out on the next run, slowly, and see how you go. Having said that, don't push it or try to run through any obvious pain, it's just not worth it. A few extra days on the injury couch is much better than trying to get back too soon. You won't lose all your fitness overnight and it builds back up pretty quickly. Fingers crossed you are back out there soon.🙂

Thank you. I’ll see how it is over the next couple of days and take it gently. Might try a walk tomorrow just to keep moving!

Hi, You are not alone - I had to stop a week ago when my glute / back were really sore after WK5 Run2!

Like you I was SO disappointed as really enjoying the programme and sense of gradual improvement / motivation. After a lot of rest & stretching it is feeling much better and I am going to try a run again tomorrow. It has been suggested I go back to wk4 to test it out slowly.

I had some great advice and support on this forum - as one of the mentors said its a journey and these set backs are common and all part of a bigger picture - and we all have different hurdles along the way. Rest well and look after your body and we WILL get there!

Thank you! It feels better when resting but I know I need to keep moving too. It’s so frustrating! Hope you manage ok tomorrow 🤞
