Wow. I wasn’t expecting that. I don’t look ahead at the plan, just get on the treadmill and start the app. Feels like s big jump from week 3 to week 4, I saw it and thought ‘I won’t be able to do that’, I have this in grained belief that one day I’ll discover I’ve only got one lung or something like that 😂, I’ve never been able to run for any sort of time.
I’m just back now after the run, I cannot believe I’ve run 5 minutes, this is the first week I really found it hard, looking forward to Sunday run though, have to push on. I’m feeling good though, I surprised myself today.

It does become easier, I adjusted my pace on the treadmill for the daunting runs, and if I felt okay upper the pace towards the end of the run. You'll be fine 🙂
I’ve been running at 5.7mph and walking at 4mph on the treadmill, was considering slowing the run speed down a bit today but dunno if that’s cheating a bit, not sure I can go beyond 5 mins at 5.7 mph, may have to embrace my inner snail a little more 😄
It’s not cheating as long as there’s a moment when both feet are off the floor. That’s what separates running from walking. 😄 Come be a snail; we’re really friendly!
Until tonight I was confident that I’d do all 9 weeks then start park run (which is my ultimate goal), I think thought it would be more gradual so was shocked to see five mins tonight, I’ve managed it, but realised that I’m gonna have to knuckle down and I won’t just breeze thru, definitely a wake up call today, but pleased I got thru it 👍🙂
Sometimes runs are also tough for no obvious reason... just like we don’t always wake up in the same mood... it happens and you learn to accept it. The good thing with a tough run though is it really tests and builds that mental strength.
Yep, not entirely sure what I thought the step up was going to be from 3 minutes, I guess in my mind it was 4 minutes lol, I think the walking intervals were quite short too, your right, 5k is the goal, god knows why I seem to think I’d breeze thru
Hi Jurgen, the same thing happened to me today. I’ve been coping with the runs pretty well until today. I did Wk4r2 and it was HARD! I managed it but cannot imagine running week 5 at all
It’s good to know I’m not alone 👍, I’ve deliberately not looked at w5, I had a bad run during w3 but seemed to cope better with w4 r1 better, I think running in the morning is better for me, just feels like ‘stuff’ just got real 😂
More than that, you are now running more than walking, which is a huge accomplishment. Don't worry about what's in store - the plan is brilliant and you will be ready for those next runs.
I thought the same that I wouldnt be able to do the 5 minute runs. I managed it successfully. Am resting from exercise today as the app suggests, and back for Run 2 of Week 4 tomorrow. cant believe I did it. I did a slower pace though on the runs. Normally on the treadmill I do about 8 but I did a slower pace of 7.4 which worked.
Wow, 8 is fast, I’m doing 5.7 and I’ve even reduce that to 5.5 for the 5 min runs, brisk walk for me is 4mpy on the treadmill, 8 is a sprint in my world 😂😂
Well done!!! I just finished week 3 and was also thinking it feels like a big jump. BUT your post has shown me that I’m not alone in my thinking and it can be done! Thank you x
