W8R2 - It was tougher than I expected

Happy to have completed the run!

I thought the run would be ok given that the temperature was only 16 C today, but guess our bodies have there own sense of good/bad days. It was much tougher than I expected it to be.

I break down my runs in chunks of 5 mins. I count to 300 roughly one sec for each increment. It works out fairly accurately. From my counting once I thought I’ve reached 25 mins I broke remaining 3 mins in 2 and 1 min interval and was expecting Laura to announce that I’ve only a min left so I can sprint. Either I missed her saying that (unlikely) or the app froze up momentarily, but unfortunately the only thing I heard was that my run time is over.

I was disappointed as I love to sprint in the last min which I couldn’t do today, but then I was tired by the end of it so it’s more likely that I may not have completed the run with sprint.

Later when I checked Strava, I was running faster (only a slight bit) than my previous run, so that may be a factor why I felt it tougher.

I guess all is good as far as I’m completing my runs. Looking forward to finish W8 on Wednesday and move to the final week. So excited 😀

As I said in one of my previous posts, I’ve been tracking my water intake. My average water intake per day is around 2.4 ltrs. Is it sufficient/more/less in your experience guys?

And everyone else on W8, All the best!

Great running.

I realised after checking stats following my last run that I hit my max heart rate towards the end.

I aim for a minimum of 3 litres a day.

Good luck

Sounds like you need to up your max HR in any devices. 220 minus Age is notoriously unreliable. During the early weeks I went above my alleged max heart rate, but given that I didn't expire or go into shock I've just upped it a bit.

Well done. To be honest I haven't been tracking my water intake, maybe I should give it a go though 🤔

You shd track your water intake and keep a paint colour chart in the loo to check whether it's pale enough. Apparently. I'm usually in fairly safe "Farrow and Ball Suggest Pastels for Kitchens" territory. About 2 ltrs or so a day... :-)

I've Just done a little math 😉

Turns out I have decaf coffees daily (2litre) then my 2 bottles (500ml) so 3 litres 😳 wow I have more fluids than I would of thought 😊

Two litres of coffee? Do you have a bucket? :-)

4 cups which hold half pint. Oops that's 2 pints 😂

Phew. I was worried there. Given that my bladder is roughly the size of a pea, I'd need to stand at a urinal drinking all day just to keep topped up/emptied. Hmm. TMI :-)

If you are an adult male you should be drinking 4 litres a day, female 3 litres. Plus a litre for every hour of exercise and /or hot weather.

Water content of tea, coffee etc count toward this, as does water content of food, although unle you live on a diet of watermelon and cucumber this does not account for more than about 15 percent tops.

I did W8R1 today. Found it quite hard. Had to keep reminding myself of the reasons for not stopping. My calf & my ankle started arguing at one point but I threatened them with Sallenson's emergency evil jelly babies & they shut up. Good luck for R3. I like to sprint (well go a little bit faster) for that last minute too.

Yes exactly what I meant by sprinting, it’s just a little faster 😀
