Laying in bed, I was boiling, I could feel my pipes getting smaller, causing me to cough & wheeze...there was no choice but to go downstairs for my inhaler...so, after what was a restless night because of the heat & a certain amount of bed hopping (!), I got up....I was in William’s bed again so I was extremely careful climbing down the ladders...I have been a very good girl since I fell off them on Wednesday & have resisted the temptation all weekend to go out for a run...but this morning was just asking too much...my trainers were there, at the bottom of the stairs...I had already thought yesterday that I might gently step off the IC & go out for a bit of pavement kissing....my trainers must’ve had the same thought as me as they seemed to be all ready to go...some of my running gear was on the pile of neatly folded clean washing that had been on the line yesterday so I didn’t even have to go back upstairs to get changed...armband on...& at 5:28am I was creeping out of the back door...5:28am??!!!!! Am I right in the head??! Even the dog looked at me as if I were going mad!!! Over to the park I thought for a couple of kms just to test my ankle...it felt ok, I put on Wk6R1 because that’s 3 short runs that poss wouldn’t be too hard on my ankle...as I ran, I could feel that I needed to make sure that I landed exactly in the middle of my foot because if I’d have gone over on it that would’ve been it...so, with every step I was looking for the flattest piece of ground so that my foot landed perfectly....before I knew it I’d done 3.6kms & wasn’t really listening to Mr Smooth....I was listening to my body...the closest thing to running I’d been just over 12 months ago was in winter when my nose was running!!! It’s good to think about how far we have come, from never running at all, not running since school, thinking we can’t run because we’re not built for running, I mean...who was the first person that actually said that??!!! We’re all built for running, our bodies are amazing & are capable of amazing things...but we have to listen carefully to them & that’s why, if you’re on the programme & struggle with a run, do it again....you’ve listened to your body & it’s said ‘this is too much’ but if you’re on the programme & haven't struggled then you’ve listened to your body & carried on...listening to my body has been the most important part of my running journey & it’s got me where I am now...a runner...even at 5:28!!!!
Happy running my friends x

You do realise that you are quite mad, though, don’t you? Choosing to do W6R1? My nemesis?? As your return from the IC??? 🤣
That approach to your foot landings made me think about walking meditation - where you take each step very deliberately and notice each part of the journey your feet take through each step. It’s something I’m going to try when I go out and run shortly.
Welcome back to the active list. It’s your turn to brew.
Yes Jay66UK ....when I stepped out of the house & put my headphone in, set up Strava & thought, everyone who follows me will think I’ve lost the plot!!! But now, W6R1, wasn’t expecting that to make me appear mad!!
It was interesting & made the minutes fly by having to really concentrate on my landing...how did your run go??? Brew’s ready when you are...sugar??
My run was good but somehow I managed to get a bit distracted and my mind wandered from my feet - I wrote it up and it’s somewhere among yesterday’s posts in here.
Only a sugar in my first breakfast brew, then Earl Grey and a little milk all day. Looks perfect, thanks!
You did the 'run that you want'... listening to your body and feeling good. A mindful run, and nice and early so it was cool. Hope you had time to relax for a minute when you got home before you had to be 'MummyCav' again...
Well done MC a great run - well deserved for waiting until your ankle was right again. Hope you managed a cheeky kip later on in the day to make up for the early start!
Ha ha, no chance...even if I were falling asleep on my feet I cannot sleep during the day!! (Or night at the moment!!!) still have a little bit of swelling in the ankle but a few gentle jogs will sort it I’m sure..how are you doing? x
Take it easy, am sure you will . I am still hovering over the IC..... Managed a 30 min run last week but hip a bit twingey since.... will have another stab at it this weekend and see what's what. Just pleased I can still manage 30 mins!! Still going down the gym though & Step class tomorrow! All good x
