Nervously in to week 5

I’ve made it to Week 5 and I’m in shock to be honest. Each week the bar is raised and I’ve been so proud of achieving it. I’ve done W5 R1 three times as I was putting off the jump to Run 2 as I was convinced that I’d fail.

Took the bull by the horns today and did it! I’m in shock and so proud of myself. I could manage 18 seconds at the start of this programme and today I’ve run 8 minutes - twice!!

Run 3 is scaring the bejesus out of me. I’m going to attempt on Thursday. Any tips?

Well done for smashing it today. Run three is my most favourite run of the program, yes it's hard but you'll actually be active for less time than you were today. the sense of achievement afterwards is unreal. but I'll tell you something, once you have completed it, you lose the fear all together. it's the best gift this program has to offer. honestly, you've done the work for it, your body is ready - you just have to battle the gremlins :D

Thanks jiggles7 . From the reading I’ve sone on this board it seems that many people say that Run 3 is a turning point.

Each run where the times have increased have scared me and like you say the sense of achievement afterwards is something else! At the start of this I honestly couldn’t run half a minute without struggling!

Tomorrow’s the day!

Thank you!

I listened to all the remaining runs last night so I could see what Michael has in store for me. It’s reduced the terror a teeny tiny bit. I’m trying to visualise how amazing I’m going to feel when I complete it!

Visualisation is a great tool! try and approach it with a positive mind-set...easier said than done I know. I went into it kind of bribing/convincing myself - my goal was to run until the half way bell (I whooped with joy when I heard it) because then I could just stop knowing that I had run the furthest I had ever run. but then I was like -'I still have more in the tank' so I can just do 5 more mins, then i'm 3/4 of the way through and that will be an epic achievement! but Michael then piped up with 5 mins remaining and I was like, well the worst of it is over now, I've done 15 mins, i'm not feeling any worse than I did 5 mins ago might as well just carry on...but something peculiar happened then...I was running and I was enjoying it and when he said it was time to walk again I could have wept with joy - not just because I could stop running but because I had achieved so much. it's just the best, even if you do have to barter your way through :D

Relax... you can do it! That’s my top tip!

Brisk walking keeps your heart rate up... so your body doesn’t really know the difference between that and jogging... so run 2 was 21 minutes of heart rate up... run 5 is a step down to just 20 for your body... your mind is shocked as it’s double digits, and surely it should start with a 1... run 3 is a mental challenge. Go slow, tell yourself you can, and just go... you can do it.

UnfitNoMore That’s exactly it! I’ve seen the double digits and panicked!

Tomorrow’s the day and I now feel a mixture of excitement and terror. Mostly terror! 🤣

You can do it... it’s the thing you came to do and you’re physically ready... so kick that terror out, tell mr doubt to go take a hike, and believe in yourself

The morning of W5R3 I was lying in bed thinking I would just give up, it was obviously beyond me. And then I went out there and I smashed it! Couldn’t believe it and it has turned into my favourite run so far.

Go for it, take it slow, enjoy it.

ItstheMarchHare Thats exactly how I’ve been thinking. Or should I just repeat Week 5 Run 2 forever more! 🤣

Well done on smashing it. I hope I can do the same. I’m hoping the terror will go soon!

Lol, I’m not sure the terror goes, just run with it as a jogging companion!

I did w5r3 on Saturday and like you was nervous, scared, anxious and more. But everyone on here is right behind you and we know you can keep putting one foot in front of the other and totally smash it. The feeling of accomplishment at the end is the best feeling. You can do this x

Hi, I had a similar feeling on Monday morning, as I prepared for W5R3, but I did it! Take it steady, remember it's not a race, it's your gateway to a fitter and healthier you! If I can do this at 72 you can! Just done W6R1 this morning and feel great, Keep up the good work and see you In December when we should both Graduate!😀

I’ve just literally finished doing this run. I felt the same, I was so put off by the thought of running for 20 minutes but thought to myself, you go girl. Keep focused, you’ll do it😁
