Advice please?

So just been on a beautiful 5.5k walk with the dog.

So far I have been sticking to the route I know has even smooth paths for my runs (currently on week8) but am longing for another route.

Do you recon this is to rough/wanky to run along? Or am I just being soft? Should I try it or steer clear? Worried about the impact on joints etc.

All advice welcome please ☺️

Did you mean wonky! 😊 it does look a bit ankle turning 😬

It’ll be no harder than pavements. But first hint of rain and it will get boggy. I’d run that, but only in the dry.

Definitely go for it just watch where you are going. The uneveness will be good exercise for your legs and core. You might not be able to run it wet so do it while you can. Finding new routes is great - Im lucky enough to have lots of choices both on and off road locally but am always looking for new ones to do or link in.

😱Oh my days!!! Yes I meant wonky 😱😂🙈 I do apologise for my outrageous typo 😬🤭

Brill, thank you for all the advice I will give it a whirl on my next run (hopefully still dry) will take it steady and see how it feels

Running offroad is generally much gentler on the joints from an impact perspective but harder on the ankles, initially at least, because of unevenness, but will ultimately make your ankles stronger.

It is also, as far as I am concerned, the real reason for running. Charging through the fields at dawn, or through the forests scaring the wildlife, is what running is all about for me. It beats parks or residential streets any day.

Oh that’s brilliant thank you! Just needed to reassure myself it wasn’t a silly idea before going for it.

I run on a short section of track like that and after about three or four minutes of negotiating the tyre tracks I’m glad to see the back of it. Personally I wouldn’t want to do several km on that. I’d be worried the ankles were taking too much of a pummelling. Good luck!

Thank you, yes will keep it to short distance on there I think.

looks quite rough to me. I'm prone to turning my ankle so I would be in two minds about it.

Why not try power walking it or a low shuffle jog first?

Yes I was worrying about injury so walked it tonight, I think I would be super slow and careful down there.
