Have a look at running belts, I found it better than armbands.
Ebay is worth checking out and I’ve even had bargains from going round charity shops! Shops-wise, Sports Direct and Decathlon tend to be decent value

I brought a belt from groupon, simple style which cost about £5. It fits my phone and keys, to be honest I didn’t expect much for the price. It’s perfect, very comfortable.

I used a cycling jacket. I also use a cycling top as well, as it has pockets in the lower back, including a zipped one, which I make sure I use since losing my door key...
Keep your eye out for Aldi and Lidl - they often have reasonably priced exercise kit.
Lots of good advice in the previous replies ... definitely have a look on eBay, some of the stuff is new. I think there are people out there who think buying sports wear will make them fit and end up selling it without even removing the labels!
