I decided to bring my graduate run forward by 24 hours. During yesterday I realised that part of my struggle on Sunday was I had spent Saturday “focussing on hydrating”, aka worrying about the run and psyching myself out.
I’d given myself two rest days and last night I realised I was ready.
Up mega early to avoid the heat and off I went. Slow start to the running paid off - no ragged breath, no doubting voice. I ran to the metre the same distance as Sunday but with almost none of the pain.
I’m now a sweaty mess and need a shower.
Thanks to everyone for your support through this - I would’ve given up weeks ago without this forum.
Whatever run you have next, enjoy it x

Yup. Going to do at least 3 a week, hopefully a Parkrun each week, and look to extend my distance and/or duration. My 10k ambition is 11 months away so I’m also going to start working on my core fitness. Which I think means joining a gym 😢
Yay !! Well done you!! What’s your plans for the next couple of weeks ? I managed one 5k run and then I’ve done two 2 mile runs ( about 25 mins) with my daughter but really struggled with my breathing to do any longer on the first one and she struggled with the second . I’ve tried late evening and early morning but is still too warm and polleny for me. But it’s still a run and I’m still enjoying it.
I might try 5.00am to see if it’s any cooler then 🤣🤣
6am awake was enough for me! I’m going to keep doing 30 minute runs twice a week and a Parkrun each Saturday, with the aim of reaching 5k in 30 mins. Over the coming year I want to work towards doing a 10k.
Well done you! That badge by your name looks great! Congratulations! 🎓👏🏻🏃🏃🏃🎉🎉 🎉 All the very best for your consolidation runs. Sounds like you have a clear idea of how you would like to progress from here. Impressive!
I am just finding that we have so many new runners currently, that I am missing the folk I have watched coming through and on to the Graduation podium xx
Whoa whoa whoa! How did I miss this???!!!! Noticed your badge on another post, so checked back! Belated congratulations!!!! Very impressed. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 ps explains one of your park run comments!
