I had originally planned to do my final run tomorrow and take an extra rest day but I've done Mon, Weds, Fri from the start and call it superstition but felt I needed to get out there today and just do it (like Nike says)
Plus I'd promised @Dodgylungs that we'd do our final runs in sync today. Couldn't bail on him.
The weather though. Omg!! π«π«
Never seen anything like it when I woke. Blowing a hoolie and the rain was just beating down in torrents. I could have cried!
I must have changed 3 times, layers on and off, long leggings, shorter leggings...hat or no hat..
It just wasn't going to make a difference today, I was getting wet and no way out of it.
I set off and my rain mac annoyed me from the start. Had the hood up and it was making me too hot in spite of the torrential rain. Decided wet hair it was. Felt much better instantly.
The whole run I was jumping puddles, that was the best bit of the run, made me feel like a kid again π
But 15 mins in and major tech fail. Silence. No music, not a sausage from Sanjeev π«π«
Was it a sign? Should I stop? It really did throw me for a while. Glanced at my watch and realised it had stopped tracking. You've got to be kidding me!!! Now I really wanted to cry.
No. No and no Burkey. Cop yourself on!!
Ah feck it, I can't give up now. Quick check of the phone and the couch app was still running, I had 11 minutes left and squelching by now with how wet I was....keep going, you have to keep going.
The silence was strange, all I could hear was my breathing in my head...
Suddenly, Sanjeev appeared!! What? How?
Just 60 seconds to go, you can do it!!!
And I DID! I could have kissed Sanjeev right there and then. Virtually of course!
I was soaked to the skin when I got home. Twigs in my pony tail and dirty, muddy trainers.
In 9 weeks I've becoming a runner of sorts. Not only that, I've now lost just over a stone in weight.
I've found my lost mojo and become focused again. I'm no longer a quitter. I finished what i started. π
Like everyone else, I've learned tons about myself in what is really, a very short space of time in the grand scheme of things. This year has been challenging for all of us and more to come no doubt.
But seriously, a massive hug going out to everyone who inspired me during the past 9 weeks, you know who you are. Collectively, you are one big beating heart and that heartbeat is what I've listened to, on the good runs and the not so good... it's kept me going!
Well done Burkey!!! You are the greatest - you got out there despite this awful weather!! It was my run day today but I looked outside and thought not today thanks, so well done to you. Well done on the weight loss too thats amazing - there's so many positives to this running lark isnt there?! Yay congratulations!!! :)
Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im SO SO pleased for you - and very inspired that you went out in the rain... had tech issues.... AND STILL DID IT!!!!! You are AMAZING!!!! time to celebrate
Congrats Burkey! You are now officially a graduate!! Towering effort. It really is tough work in crap weather. Youβve done amazingly well and to get through in this weather is extraordinary. I salute you, especially after losing Sanjeev there too. Well done on the weight loss too. Mine is slowly shedding.
I have a real feeling of discontent now that youβve graduated. Iβm actually seriously considering trying again this afternoon, but sshh donβt tell anyone!!
Congratulations, thatβs a great result! Sounds like a tough run but look what youβve achieved!ππββοΈ Enjoy your graduation and celebrate like mad!π₯³π₯
Thank you David, I really appreciate your kind words ππͺπ
Big well done and congrats Burkey46, that's a soggy smug I've only gone and done it smile ππ proof that this get ya ass of the couch malarkey actually does work......... Go get that well earned graduation badge wear it with pride and see you soon at 10k π₯³

Loving your optimism there Imc50 π
But then 9 weeks ago I didn't think I could do this much either so watch this space ππββοΈπͺ
We done on completing your final run in the dreadful weather. I am doing consolidation runs but opted out this morning when I looked out the window. If weather improves later I may fit the 30 mins run in otherwise I will see what happens tmw. If I had still been left with 1 run to finish C25K I would have wanted to run it but may well have convinced myself to not bother but you did it even with tech issues. Well done - it feels great to finish the programme.
Thank you Nowster and thanks for the support along the way π a drowned rat needs his pals to stay afloat ππ
Just wonderful to read your graduation run Burkey, what a run, all that π§ but you stood up to it brilliantly....now comes the rest of your running life which Iβm sure you will take by the horns and love.
Congratulations and look forward to seeing you over on the Bridgeto10k when youβre ready π
Meanwhile, hopefully you are dry by now and feeling deservedly smug, celebrate and enjoy your glory π€ΈββοΈππ₯³π€ΈββοΈππ»π₯π€

Jorge thank you so much. I appreciate your words. β€οΈ
Whoop whoop ππ πππ₯³πΎ so fantastic to hear. What a run π₯΄ and what determination πͺA fantastic achievement when you think of how much you doubted yourself 9 weeks ago. Am loving reading the graduation posts, everyone proud of each other π₯°
Many congratulations, enjoy a fabulous weekend and the celebrations.
Looking forward to hearing what youβre going to do next... after youβve had a rest π€£xx
Congratulations on graduating from C25K in that awful weather, follow the link from Instructor57 to get your graduation badge and the word GRADUATE π next to your username π ππΎ π
Cold and rain is a strange thing. I actually don't mind running in the rain because I know that I can have a nice bath or shower when I get back home
The cold I hate though and I'm really glad I bought the long sleeve base shirt (hubby says I look like Gareth Bale in it, eh? oh well) it keeps you at a nice "Goldilocks" temperature...not too hot and not too cold, just right and then a loose sleeveless shirt on top.
Don't forget to stuff your running shoes with newspaper! ππ
Fantastic just fantastic, so pleased for you. πβπͺπββοΈThat emotion as you dig deep and finish, euphoric, tearful, pride ππ₯° It's such a fabulous moment when all your preparation comes good at the end and what a test it was, how awful was that rain this morning π§ π¬
Well done, enjoy a glass of something delicious tonight, you deserve it πΎ
That's job done, well done you! Now consolidate your 30min runs, get used to running 5k at least once per week and you can go and reach 10k much quicker than you ever thought.
For as long as you wish. You've done the hard work already, the muscles are up and running and your cardio is nearly there. I'm not going to say run marathons (yet) but 10k, come on, anyone can do that. Once you've consolidated your 30 min runs you'll want to go further, most of us do, and 10k may seem like double the work but it's only double the distance. You've done most of the work already, believe it or not. You've got it.
well done - its a shame we can have a program that controls the weather we are exposed to instead of just the time we run or the distance we run! I'm just a run away from gradultion now so look forward to joining you in celebrating.
Whoop whoop ππ» ππ»ππ». Congratulations Burkey you did it ! Hats off to you too in this dreadful weather, I was supposed to do run 2 this morning but weather was awful, still is lol. Might try and get out later.
What a journey, the programme and the support on here is second to none. π... enjoy the rest of your day!
You spurred me on well done . I am such a wimp so bailed and went to the gym.
Nail the run on the treadmill and even managed to climb 47metresπ I feel itβs cheating so push myself hard. Just a sweaty mess now but warm and dry. I think next week maybe a challenge to finish outdoors. What will you do now?
Well done. You should be really proud of yourself and what a way to finish?! Doing your final C25K run in torrential rain makes it even more of an achievement. Bravo ππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌ
Aiming to do some consolidation runs starting next week and build on getting stronger for the 30 minute sessions. When I can do them comfortably I'll start on that magic 5k marker and take it from there I think πI'm still trying to absorb the fact I can run for 30 mins π±
I really hope you donβt stop posting here. I have loved all your posts and have read through a few of them before those runs that I couldnβt get excited about lol. Iβm first on the list for your book when you write it π€π»π€π»π€π».
VP, I've never been more inspired to write than I have these past 9 weeks. I've been putting words down since day dot and never had the courage to put anything out into the big wide world until now. I just didn't have the confidence. This forum has been so kind and supportive. Makes me realise that despite the times we live in, people can and still do support each other in difficult moments β€οΈ
You are so right. This forum is so cathartic when dealing with all the difficult times and it has inspired us to keep going - and not just in our running. It is definitely true when they say βwe are stronger togetherβ.
You really have a gift for beautiful and funny and inspiring writing. You should definitely keep it going. And donβt forget to share it here. It keeps all of us going.
Well done πππΎ thanks for inspiring those of us who are a few weeks behind. I can relate to having an annoying hood incident today and finishing like a drowned rat πβοΈ
Have a fantastic weekend after all those exertions π€πͺ
I couldn't have done any of it without all of you lot on this forum either. It's been a complete revelation for me to find such support in such an unexpected place. So thank you to you too β€οΈ
Congratulations Burkey46, your photo says it all, the weathers been absolutely terrible today so itβs even more of an impressive achievement to go out there and complete the programme. Well done, enjoy the rest of your Graduation Day ππ»ππ»π π₯³π₯³
Congratulations and well done ππ loved hearing the story of your run, thanks for sharing it. Inspiring, and good going! Iβm not sure I can run in the rain, thinking about whether I need to join a gym to keep running, but perhaps Iβll give it a go. Itβs a hit and miss with what to wear for it. Thanks for sharing the bit about having to change what youβre going to wear. Iβve done that too with the changing weather. Best wishes for continued runs, keep posting.
Congratulations π₯³ a fantastic achievement and a great post.
BTW you are not a sort of runner YOU ARE A RUNNER and I know that graduating from C25K is not the end of running for you because it seems that continuing to run is part of the magic of this wizardly phenomenon.
Such an inspiration post; I really could feel the emotions coming through. You've done so well, congratulations!!! How dare Sanjeev ghost you like that during the run but at least he came back. I'm completely with you too in the sense that sometimes you've just got to accept you're going to get wet; in a strange way it's rather refreshing.
Ps. I hope the twigs didn't play havoc with your ponytail barometer π
Haha my hair was so wet that it just stuck in one place and didn't move. I got home and had to strip off in the kitchen and my hair was just dripping everywhere. Need to think about that in the winter months. Might need a hat and to tuck it up under or something. Wet hair makes you feel colder I find. I sat in a hot bath for ages after just to warm up!!! Winter running is going be a challenge for sure ππ
Hi ya - just read your post as i took a few days off as my bad knee kicked in again (just posted) and finally sat down to read how everyones getting on and your post is one i was looking forward too and it did not disappoint! BLOODY WELL DONE YOU !!!!!
So proud of you! - your message and photo really made me smile xxxx
Yay I was so glad to get it done! It's still raining too ππ I'm gearing up for some wet consolidation runs next week. Better get used to them I think.
Take it easy with that knee, I also get knee twinges so for now I'm just plodding along still and taking it steady. Best of luck β€οΈ
Congratulations! That is fantastic, I've been lurking and not posting but going on my own C25K journey. Your posts have been amongst those that inspired me. I just graduated this weekend, like you running in the rain, through streams with water over my ankles. My favourite run yet! Onwards and upwards (well to consolidation club at least!)!
This group has done something to me because normally I'm more of a 'behind the scenes' person but I've been transformed into a running, posting warrior! π
Can't wait to get started on the consolidation runs. Want to get stronger and improve if I can πͺπββοΈπ
An amazing amount of replies for an amazing person, it just shows how many people have really enjoyed your posts and seeing you complete this program, I dont think I've seen as many replies to a graduation run!
Massive congratulations to you and even more so for continuing with the tech issues, it would have thrown me off completely.
Like others have said, keep posting as it really is inspiring to see posts like yours, I know they've helped me when I've not wanted to run!
Replying a bit late but just wanted to say a big thank you for your post. Your determination is so inspiring. Huge well done and hope you enjoyed that G&T!
