Hi all, quick question .....I'm really chuffed that I have managed to keep going despite a sore groin nearly ruining everything. Run for 25 mins today at a slow jog, I'm doing it on a treadmill at a gym and I'm concerned as when I looked I have only run 2.2km, will I ever manage to do 5km in 30 mins 😕

Hi I read on a running website that treadmill running and outdoor running are very different things. Apparently if you put a video of a treadmill user on slow motion you can see the user almost jumping to stay on the treadmill.
the version of couch to 5k that most follow here, the "one you" app or the podcasts, gets you to running 30 min by the end with no mention of distance. Other versions get you to progress to 5K but with no time restriction. Some people hit 5K in 30 min but most don't. Basically either way, a slow jog is fine, more than fine in fact as slow is how your body trains efficiently, apparently. Speed can come later - it sounds like you're doing just great and you should be rightly chuffed! Have you seen the FAQs? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... - there's one about speed if you feel like further reading!
Only 10% of graduates actually do 5k in 30 minutes, for the rest of us snails it is something to aim for after graduation. I did W7R2 yesterday and covered 2.8km in 25 minutes. I do a mixture of treadmill and outdoor running... Enjoy them both 😀
Thanks for replying x
