Trying to stay motivated

I’m so trying to keep motivated but it’s so hard. I picked up running and going to the gym a couple of months ago and I was religiously going and improving and then I just stopped I haven’t been for about 6 weeks haven’t done anything fitness wise. But impulsively my friend signed up too a 5k in 4 weeks time and I followed in her foot steps. Can I train myself and pick it back up In 4 weeks or will I be really unfit and unable to complete the 5k and make a fool out of mySelf? Am I being over confident or am I going to crash and burn. Is this do able. I’ve made first step at going back to the gym and I was relatively surprised that I completed week 3 run 3. Am I just giving myself false hope because I’ve winged it for one day.

I can’t really answer your question but what I can say is, for most things, if you think you can or think you can’t you are probably right.

For running and for me it is different - it is all about challenging the voice in my head that tells me I can’t.

You have to enjoy it though. Not every moment of every run. But enjoy the “after” enough to make you drag your bones to the next run. If you don’t, running might not be for you. But there are a million and one other things.

Good luck if you decide to continue. Only you know what will work for you.

If you do the 5k you can walk some of it. Go with the intention of completing it and see how much running feels right on the day x
