I completed W3R3 yesterday but had terrible leg cramps in the night and have aches and pains throughout my body today! I must have slept on my neck funny too because even that’s hurting!! Please tell me it gets better!? I’m stretching after each run so any further advice would be grateful received!

Hello! It sounds like you need to concentrate on staying hydrated. Make sure you are drinking enough throughout the day, especially on run day. If the cramps persist, then try an isotonic drink or add a sports drink tablet to your water. This will help balance the salts in your system.

Also, I sometimes take an anti-inflammatory if my aches are really bad. Obviously you should only do this if you are medically allowed to x

Thanks for the advice, I was busy yesterday and had neglected the water! Hadn’t thought of that link! Will stop and make time in future!

You will no doubt receive advice from high that you should drink 3 litres the day before you run, so that the blood flows through your muscles. I drink lots after running too. Good luck with W4 👍👏

I’ve had to change my mindset with drinking water, so probably still need to increase it more, I only ever drank tea and coffee! (Oh and the odd wine) before starting running so it’s an ever increasing learning curve!

Hi - it does get better - took me till week 5 for my legs to stop aching at night - I have found doing leg strength exercises before a run really helps - lots of lunges and squats and leg raises to get the muscles warmed up - i do these for about 5-10 mins before each run and has helped me a lot.

Thanks for this great advice, going to rest for 2 days this time and make sure I’m good to go for W4!
