W7R1 Struggling!

Wow found tonight really tough. I hit my stride round the half way mark but boy the last 7 mins were difficult. I kind of paused to cross a couple of stiles but was determined to not stop running. Keep thinking this is it now...No more respite walking breaks! Will it get easier? I feel great afterwards apart from being overheated. Spent 22 mins of the 25 at peak heart rate. Too fast? Too hot out there? Too unfit? (More likely 😂)

Hiya! It sounds like you already know why this was a tough run. A bit hot and a bit too quick maybe? I’ve just done w7 and i do miss the walk breaks but I now also know I can live without them. That’s not to say I’m not still knackered at the end! I think if you drop your pace a bit for the next run and try a cooler time you should find it easier. Plus it’ll be the third non stop 25 min run you’ll have done so your head will be getting used to it too. Good luck!

I felt the same and realised that the change of week makes a difference run 2 will be easier ! I just finished week 8 and 8#1 was hard !

Hi 'Sarrtjie' my final walk part will be on Saturday, week 6 run 2, from then on no more walking. I have worked out that there are 10 non-stop runs, 4x25 minutes, 3x28 minutes and finally the 3 30 minute runs on week 9, that's some going, if possible listen to the weather forecast for when the temperature is not too high, supposed to get warm here in the UK, so I will be doing all those runs in the morning. The best temperature to run is from about 12c to 18c. (54f to 65f)

My problem 're. time of run is that getting up at 5.30 in order to run before getting kids up and getting ready for work just isn't going to happen! And if I wait until after dinner when it's cooler chances are I won't want to move by backside off the couch again! So I generally go straight after I get home from work which unfortunately this last couple of weeks has been boiling 😅

I have to do the same, it’s v hard esp as I sometimes can’t drink water all day as my job just doesn’t allow me to, yet, we seem to be coping. Don’t you feel so positive tho when you get it done!! ✅

Absolutely! And maybe I am expecting to find it easier than I should... Dont know why when I couldn't even run for 2 mins at a time only a few weeks ago 🤔🤔😆 btw what a nightmare not being able to drink water all day 😳

Can you keep a water bottle in the classroom? I always drink more if I have a bottle to hand. Drink hardly any if I have to actually go to the tap and get a glass 😂

"Slow down, you move too fast..." as the song goes:)

These runs are made for relaxing into.... warm up well, start slow and then, just let those newly forming running legs find their own happy pace. They know what they are doing...let them do it. Don't push too hard...just land lightly and breathe your way through. :)

Up your rest day exercise too.. the legs are no use without the support of stamina and core strength..make sure you are particularly well hydrated every day, not just run days....then.. your post run stretch routine is also essential!

This is a great journey.. relax and enjoy the views:)

Thanks Oldfloss! Have to say I haven't been doing any other exercise since starting this programme. Have always done HiiT sessions before this. I do stretch though 👍 I suspect I am setting out too fast as I am actually itching to get out running these days. Who'd have thought it?! My average pace is 7'57" per km...not exactly speedy but its all relative. I also dont have a flat route where i live without driving somewhere. Am heading out later today so will apply all the good advice. At least it's cooler today!
