Struggling in the heat...

I am stuck on week 6 at the minute! I followed the plan from week 1 to week 6 run 2 without missing a run, but then had to skip a few days so never made the W6R3 in normal succession.

So, I decided to start week 6 again, runs 1 and 2 went ok, yet run 3 (last Thursday) I managed 20 mins and had to stop, just far too hot and no energy left... I was a little annoyed as this was the first time since starting the plan that i've actually had to give in...

So, my second attempt came on Sunday, only this time it was even worse! I managed 9 mins and felt so exhausted, so decided to walk until I felt i was recovered, which took around 3 minutes, I then planned on continuing the run to the end, however only managed a further 3 mins before having to stop again!

I'm putting it down to the heat, but hopefully will manage to complete the full 25 mins on Tuesday, and I see week 7 is the same pattern,, so i'm aiming now to do the 25 min run 4 times on the trot, and then once i've hit that target proceed to week 8...

Take it steadily. What time of day are you running? I’m only going out around 630am or staying home! This heat is hitting all of us so don’t beat yourself up - getting out and doing any duration is keeping your fitness ticking over.

It is very warm.. if you can, run early or late.. and really take it slowly... :)

Hydration is the key too... well done:)

Completely agree with Jay below.....This heat is a killer.. just take it easy and don't be too hard on yourself. I'm the same - really struggling in this heat - I cant go early morning in the week so just trying to do what I can, when I can. I ran yesterday morning and found it so tough - not reaching my goal - but I told myself it was a run. it counts!! My only other advice to you that I've heard so often on here is slow right down. Yesterday when I was really struggling I could hear all the people on this forum cheering me on....we're all right alongside you. xx

Yeah.. limited to when I can run.. midweek usually about 5pm.. which is not ideal as around hottest time of day... weekends usually go in the morning around 10am
