My experience of Huel

As part of my efforts to get fitter and lose weight I’ve been thinking a lot about my diet.

A week ago I bought some Huel to have instead of my usual not very healthy lunches. I thought others might be interested in how I’m finding it.

It’s a vegan, nutritionally complete powdered meal replacement which you mix with water. You can use it to lose weight, maintain weight or put on weight by varying the quantity of powder you use. You can vary the sweetness the same way.

The advice is to replace one meal at a time and give it 5 days for your stomach to get used to the new food before considering replacing another meal.

My intention was to use this solely for lunches.

It tastes nice to me made up without flavours but you can add almost anything to it - coffee, coffee syrups, their own flavourings, etc. Not everyone likes the flavour or texture though.

I’m now in a routine of wash out today’s shaker bottle in soapy water, mix tomorrow’s lunch in the blender, pour into the clean shaker and put in fridge overnight, wash out the blender. This takes me much less than 5 mins.

You can mix the powder in the shaker bottle and drink immediately but I understand this tends to be lumpy.

Today I also had a Huel for breakfast for the first time, having bought a second shaker bottle.

I’ve not noticed any adverse impact on my stomach or anything like headaches, which some people have reported getting. I have noticed less craving for snacks/chocolate during the day.

My plan now is to have Huel for breakfast and lunch almost every weekday and as I fancy over the weekends. I am definitely noticing an inches benefit from this after only a week.

The downside is the entry price. You have to spend about £45 to start with - 28 meals of Huel Powder in 2 resealable bags plus a shaker mug and a tshirt. That’s a lot to risk if you hate it.

Happy to answer questions. And no, I don’t work for them!!

I'm vegan and tried a few sample pouches last year sometime I think, before i started running (or any exercise :D !) as I thought it would be a great idea for quick work lunches.

My son tried it as well, we ended up blending it with oat milk, banana and cinnamon. Gonna be honest here Jay, we had to stop it cause of the farts 😂

Was just too antisocial! Was gutted though cause i think its a great idea.

Maybe you are onto something Jay, development and patent on a new even pacing technique and breathing technique.

Maybe more interesting than 1234, 1234.

Sorry Jay, JPJ / you just made me laugh, and we all need a laugh.🤔😂😂
