Sore feet! help?

Hi all, I’m really struggling to run because the soles of my feet are constantly painful. I have high arches so have always struggled with a little pain but recently my running is just making it so much worse. I have trainers that should help but it’s taking me nearly a week to recover from a single run. Any ideas on what I could do to help the situation?

Are you wearing proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop?

ICE. A small bottle of water kept in the freezer makes a great foot roller.

Stretching might also help. Calf stretching and something to stretch the bottom of the foot.

Hi I picked my new trainers yesterday from Running Needs in Canary Wharf, they assess your gait by getting you to run on a treadmill and then provide you with appropriate trainers. I noticed when I was there that they had socks with cushioning in specific areas for runners, that might help you.

Running socks? Also are you drinking plenty of water. Lack of fluids can lead to salts buildup and that hurts!! Amateur opinion!!!!

Thanks so much for the advice guys. I had my shoes from an up and running shop where they checked my gait, it sounds like even though they support my foot in the right places I could have bought some with better cushioning so my plan is to get new more cushioned trainers. I’ve also bought some cushioned running socks, a foot roller massage thing and will try the ice and exercises. I do a lot of yoga so the strength should be there in the right places.

I can 100% recommend a product called Featherspring. They look like they would be the most uncomfortable shoe inserts in creation, they are made of stainless steel, but when my arch muscles were literally shredded beyond repair they have kept me out of a wheelchair ever since. High arches are THE worst to have when it comes to pain. I hope you find a solution soon.
