Is there a secret sign?!

β€’19 Replies

I have noticed quite a few people running a similar route to mine who might be C25k'ers as you start recognising the stop start patterns! So I was thinking - is there some sort of secret sign one can give - you know, an encouraging 'we are in it together' sort of sign. Or is that totally mad? πŸ˜‚

Whats sign language for c25k. Might be an issue with the 2 though.

Maybe wear an apron and/or roll up a trouser leg? Or was that already taken by someone?

I don't do sign language but if anyone spots a red faced, middle aged woman trundling slowly along and she smiles and jumps two steps forward, spins round 3 times and sings 'I did it my way' - then it's me

giving you the secret sign

I bought a metal C25k badge off here. They did tee shirts too

Really? Must look for that. I often look at other runners and wonder?

There are C25K t-shirts which say 'graduate' on them but apparently you can request for the word 'graduate' to be taken off when you order so it's just the logo.

How about look the other jogger in the eye, lick your lips and smile?

Might improve some paces

I just nod and smile. Especially if I can see they don't look like a runner. I always think "go you".

Nod and smile wins for me. Or a brief raise of the nearest hand.

I have been wondering that myself for weeks.

My suggestion would be using the nearest hand to show (palm facing) 2 fingers, then 5. If shown to someone coming towards you you will end up offering a hand for a high-5 (sickeningly American, I know, but some like doing that).

Just don't try dropping your trousers to show how your legs are developing...

No fun.

I've noticed this too. I just smirk at them and give them a little wink - it seems to encourage them too as they immediately up their pace.
