Bitten Alive! Help!

A little over-dramatic title, but looking for some advice re bites. I was bitten 4 days ago and still suffering with it. Been treating with bite & sting relief and Lanacaine (depending which was to hand at the time). As always it swelled from a tiny bite to around 6cm in diameter. Went out last night in long leggings to avoid a further bite, but ankles were still exposed so I was sweltering and paranoid. Do any of you have advice re prevention and treatment?

Avon 'Skin So Soft' products. The moisturiser or hand cream or any of them. No one knows exactly why they are such good insect repelleants and Avin, weirdly, flatly deny that they are, but they work brilliantly. All the service personnel I know in tropical climates swear by them.

I tried that one and I still got bitten ☹️

Heard that years ago, but rumour was it was specific to one fragrance. Then I heard the formula had changed and no longer effective. Forgot all about it until your post. Might as well give it a go...

Hi there’s a spray called Smige which is good and it lasts up to 8 hours it’s a bit expensive about £7 a bottle but it’s worth it 😊

I sympathise. All things flying love me and I get eaten easily. I've tried loads of sprays but I now just use Jungle Formula and it works here and abroad.

It sounds like you have had a bit of an allergic reaction, an antihistamine may help the swelling you have now but make sure its a non drowsy one or you may fall asleep running lol

I have to take antihistamines 365 as I'm allergic to life! They call it atopic and I couldn't run if i didn't take them. One year before I developed hay fever I was in the garden no more than 15 minutes and my eyes started steaming and itching. I know it come on the year the farmer planted oil seed rape in the field adjoining my garden but studies suggest it doesn't cause hay fever. I can't say it caused it but certainly brought it to the fore, I'd never had so much as a sneeze until then. Now if my hay fever isn't under control I also get allergy-triggered asthma. It's also exercise-induced so fighting the odds here!

Jungle Formula on all exposed areas, particularly below the knee.
