and unlike Jeffrey Barnard, managing, against all odds to stay sober.
I am aware that some of you have noticed my recent absence and I am genuinely very touched that you should care. I daresay that without my nagging the number of squats executed has dwindled appallingly and sugar consumption has sky-rocketed.
I have had several quite shattering personal tragedies in very close succession and am up to my eyeballs at the moment just trying to keep things on an even keel, but am still alive and fighting, and will be back as soon as I can.
I am still running whenever I can and that is an enormous help in keeping me sane, and the concern shown by my friends here means a huge amounts to me.
I attach a photo from 3 days ago from the top of a mountain I ran up ( the eagle eyed among you will note I am wearing quite the wrong choice of running shoes for mountain running, which shows how clouded my thoughts are at the moment. I almost lost my phone taking this, and it doesn't give much idea of how high up this was, but I did 850m of vertical gain in this run and after 4 attempts at a self-timer selfie, 3 of which were of my arse traying to scramble into position, this was the best I could manage)
All I can say is to trot it my usual maxims:
from Rocky - The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward.
from Arnie: I'll be back.
from Rignold: Do squats. and when you're done, do some more squats.
See you all soon.
xx

Rocky mindful, who knew. I have found exercise always helps in the down times. Keep on running and squating.Take care xx and I hope things are beginning to feel better.
Good to hear from you. Sorry life is giving you a kicking. But you know us all so well! When you're able you're going to have some serious butt kicking to do to get us back into shape.
Sorry to hear that things have been tough for you and yes of course, your exploits have been missed on here. I had a very sad and tricky time recently myself, and my running definately kept me sane and gave me time away from that sadness.
Love that Rocky quote! Can I add...
'You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.'💪
Now that's a nice photo to waken up to on a Sunday morning 😊. I'm really sorry to hear you're having tough times Rig, but keep running to escape and all your strength and resilience frm this running/exercise stuff will help you cope now. x
So glad to see you Rig, and in such a typical Rig pose. Sorry life is shit, but you seem to be coping better than some of us would. Hope it gets better - keep running, keep squatting xxx
Keep running, keep fighting and stay sober. If anyone can beat this bad time, you can. Sorry to hear life is shit at the moment, hope things get better soon.
Sorry to hear life's making the mistake of trying to beat the Rig. Bad mistake. I know you will get through this, stronger, meaner, better. Until then, my thoughts are with you. I will even do a few squats!
Keep that smile on Your face Rig 😎 Life is fall of up's and down's and now and then it's just down's and down's. But as the saying goes 'Every cloud has a Silver lining' and I'm sure that at some point there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. My thoughts are with You 🙏
Still alive and fighting.. x be the man you are.. strong and capable..tough.. yes.. life' puts it us to the test x no nastiness here rig.. all pulling together for you.. you have given us so much.. sending some back x
You will get on top of this rig, I know as I can tell you are a tough guy. Life can be mean and then it is beautiful.
Thinking of you every time I do squats, or see squats or hear of squats, so you are always in my thoughts therefore sending you plenty of good vibes 24/7.
Great picture. This is just so you
I'm sure your not a Reading FC fan or season ticket holder like me but they played that Rocky clip over the tannoy before every game last season not that it made much difference to the team.
Hope things improve soon all the best, and keep running.
Sending squatty hugs to ward off any further shitiness Rig. If anyone can come through times like these its you and you know we're all here right beside you.
So pleased to hear from you, and so pleased that you have your running/training to help you through this period in your life. Life has its own seasons, and your springtime will come along before you know it.
Love the quotes and blimey that's some impressive vertical meterage there!!! Yes wrong shoes, but hey you did it, just glad you are still alive given your photo shananigins... Take care😎
Great to hear from you amidst so much turmoil in your life Rig - your presence on this forum is always inspiring! Hope things get better but looking at that pic you look like you're winning anyway. Take care 👍🏽👍🏽
As you know, I don't do 'Run for life' as for me it is 'Run for Misery and Death of Small Furry Animals', but I can certainly do 'Squat in solidarity with Rignold'
So sorry life is serving you toenails instead of milk and honey. As I believe I said to you once before : If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat these two imposters just the same.....
Take care, Sweetie. We'll be here when you get back xx
Sorry you are in a tough place. Keep in touch, stay strong, use the great quotes for inspiration, and thank you for the advice - I am starting the squats today - no, now.
OK, so I'm a month late finding this post. Hope things have improved for you Rig, as for running keeping you sane - that's may be a tall order considering the start point, who in their right mind would run up a mountain??!!
