Early Morning Runs and what to eat

Now that the weather has improved I am w anting to get out some mornings about 6am and run. The question is what do you eat beforehand to ensure you have some energy but don’t have a full stomach. Would welcome advice from my fellow runners. Thank you

Morning!

I go out very early too and a few days ago, when doing my warm down, felt a bit faint .

I don’t have anything apart from a glass of water - but I’m no expert !!

I’ve started trying to have a few gulps when I wake up in the night and since then have been fine. I’ve thought about a banana but don’t want to have to wait for it to “settle” as just want to be up and out. There will hopefully be someone much better qualified here to give us both an answer! 🤞🏻

We are all different... good hydration is essential each and every day.Folks have different routines...

I have always started the day.. a cup of tea and two digestive light biscuits, ( the only time I eat biscuits:)) then after about 45 mins to an hour, head out, with a quick sip of water before leaving:)

As the weather warms up even more good hydration is even more important.. and Realfoodieclub has put a post up out about this:)

I always have a banana and a pint of very diluted apple juice immediately before I run, although the previous day's hydration is more significant than the pre run drink.

We are all different, so experiment to see what works for you. If well fed the previous day, you will actually have plenty of resources on board without eating anything.
