Had anyone measured how far they are actually running every week, eg how far off 5k mark we actually will be wen we finish week 9?!!
Distances : Had anyone measured how far they are... - Couch to 5K
Distances
We do 4.6K but often go a few minutes over, like 34/35 minutes. Hope that helps.
When I finished week 9 I was running about 4k. Everyone is different.
Personally each mile around 8.5 minutes to jog. Averaging around 6.5/7 mph. Currently on week 7, 25 Minutes runs so having to run about 28 mins to achieve 5k or 3.1 miles. This however on a treadmill so calculates distance and mph. It is generally easier on treadmill though not much fun very boring but burning calories.
We’re on week 9 and have ran 5K in 29 mins 29 secs 😊
Any distance is fine. Very few cover 5k at graduation but it's not a problem. You can look at distance and pace later.
The distance I’ve come since week one is immeasurable in terms of achievement, the likelihood of me ever doing 5k in 30mins is doubtful BUT I can run for for 30mins and I can run 5k parkruns just not both at the same time!
I didn't worry about distance. It was all about completing the minutes for me. I did check after and I had done 4.45km in 30 minutes , and I expect that's all I'm still doing.
I'm okay with this at the moment.
At graduation some will run less than 3k in 30 minutes, while others will run well over 5k. It all depends on speed, but does not matter at all, C25K is about duration.
I’ve reached 4.00k including the warm up and warm down walks on a 28 minute run. My first target after graduating is to get up to running 5k then to get to the 5k mark within 30 mins.
Distance is not the motivator for me its the duration and keeping going. Know I have done 3k in 25 mins but not sure i shall reach 5k in 30 mins anytime soon, Am I bovvered No its just being out there and moving.
We use a phone app called Strava. It is free to use and gives you an idea of distance and pace. (Not speed as this is not the way to measure) We also have Fitness Bands from Xiaomi Called Mi Band 2. It has an app that logs distance, pace, heart rate and much more. It also has amazing battery life because it has no GPS, so you have to keep the phone on you.
Two years on and I’m still slow, slow, slow... if I do a mile in 15 mins I’m doing well! It’s a personal thing and the consensus is that ‘you’re doing better than everyone still on the couch’ 😉
I use strava, the free version. It measures distance, time and other stats. I found it really useful, l do around 4.4km.
