Coming back after illness

Just wondering how /whether people are repeating runs if they have to take time out for illness? I got to the end of week 4, did the first week 5 run and then I got the cold. I've got asthma and it tends to linger, so it was two weeks before I got back to it this week. I did the first week 5 run again, did the second one yesterday... I'm bloody knackered! I'm thinking to repeat the week 5 run 2 again on Saturday, see how I feel after that... it's annoying though, I'd like to be starting a new week at the start of the week IYSWIM!

Sounds like you are still recovering “under the surface”. Running after illness is “ listen to your body because it’s speaking to you” time!

I have restarted from scratch after 4 months of illness and going very gently.... but loving getting going again. 😀

That sounds like a good plan, after 4 months - it's always hard to tell where your fitness is until you test it out, isn't it? And it's all exercise at the end of the day, so what's the point in rushing it? I managed the week five run 3 yesterday but I can't say it was pleasant in any way - I'm going to repeat week 5 next week and see how I feel on that last run next time.

Sounds a good plan. Maybe go super slow for now- short paces running within yourself- so you can be more comfortable. 😀

In the early weeks I used to pretend I was warming up for most of the running section & stretch my pace a little when my body told me that I could!😀

My pace is pretty slow at the best of times! I do run on forest roads though so there's a lot of up and down. It's one of the best things about running outside though for me, that you can just vary your pace automatically. When I used to run on treadmills I found it a lot harder to adjust my pace.
