Bought some capris with cash here yesterday without trying them on and brought them back today as they were almost see-through.

They will only give you a credit not cash back (company policy) and they print you out a till receipt for it.

If you are like me you lose these things easily. Best to make completely sure you want the thing first.

Good to know, especially as I now visit this type of shop. If anyone had told me 3 months ago........

Haha likewise!!!

Oh yes - this is the wonderful shop I got my gait analysis done in. They were a chain called Sweatshop who had been taken over by Sports Direct (worst retailer in the world IMO). Totally ripped me off then wouldn't refund me for the trainers even though they had turned my toes black. Company policy indeed - is that even legal?

The staff were really nice in fairness and we did have a laugh about their mean policy

Yes - that's fair enough I guess. TBF they did exchange my trainers but I just felt like I'd really been ripped off. They've gone now anyway.

I’ve been stung with that before from them. Although did get a bit of a deal when I purchased trainers for my daughter and went in couple days later for something else to find the trainers were reduced by a fair amount - spoke to the nice bloke in shop who suggested taking back the trainers get a credit and then buy the reduced ones 😀 worked and ended up not paying anything for the other stuff I was looking at.

Lucky you - at least it worked in your favour.

Well to be honest I hardly ever have cash on me anyway (queenlike) I usually just pay by card but I was surprised. And I won’t do it again.

They also tell us in our local shop that there is no changing room so you have to take things home to try on anyway too.

If the purchase is “not fit for purpose” then by law, you are entitled to a full refund. Try going back, ask to see the manager and mention to him that as the garment is see through it is therefore NOT for for purpose, also mention citizen advice/consumer credit act. Also mention that you have a very large Facebook and Twitter following, see what that does, if no joy get on there account on both and let the world know!!

Thank you. I don’t know if I can be bothered to go back now to be honest. I’ll just make sure I don’t pay for anything in there in cash again.

Sorry to read this. I have to say that I will not buy anything from Sports Direct as the way they treat their staff seems to be appalling. I live quite near their Shirebrook hub and they are often in the local news for bad treatment of employees. It's a bit annoying as they do low-priced running kit, but I'm lucky that I don't have to buy from here, so I won't.
