There that got your attention didn’t it. See pic for details. My run this morning was fairly uneventful. 25 minutes straight, but slow but that was because it was drizzling and the pavements were a bit greasy feeling underfoot. The problem was when I got home.
I always run on an empty stomach so I come back and do my stretches etc while my porridge cooks and my bath runs, but I had decided on a shower this morning as I wanted to wash my hair too. So I ate and then went up to get undressed and I don’t know if others have the same issue but I always find I sweat more in the half hour after I get back and, as the ladies who wear sports bras will tell you, it is not so easy to remove a sports bra when you are sweaty.
I nearly dislocated my shoulder trying to remove mine and, in the struggle, my elbow hit the heated towel rail and I heard something snap and drop into the floor. Luckily it wasn’t my elbow that snapped 🤣 but it was the plastic cap, which covered the bolt holding the towel rail to the wall. Obviously over the 8 years it had been there the heat had perished it and when I hit it it shattered.
So beware of errant sports bras!!! You never know what damage they will do !!!

Do you have a Decathlon near you? I have a zip fronted sports bra, I think they do 2 different ones, I have the grey/pink version. It is so much easier to get on and off and holds everything in quite a death-grip. My second choice bra is the normal back fastening one from M&S, pack of 2, thinner and slightly less supportive than the Decathlon one, I wear it for the gym and yoga/Pilates classes.
I still have the over-the-head ones but they're now for emergencies only.
All of mine are zip front ones and, you are right, nothing moves once I have them on. But I have a stiff right shoulder and it is still a bit of a struggle to get them off.
Ooo LL! I know exactly how you feel with those Fort Knox bras! I don’t sweat much and still find them impossible, which is why I switched to zip fronted ones. I have a couple of great ones from M&S - nothing moves! Except you need to be ultra careful to flip the zip thingy down once it’s done up, otherwise they self-undo with absolutely no warning! 😱
Glad your elbow hadn’t snapped - that wouldn’t have been good! 😅
🤣🤣🤣 Sorry. I am deeply sympathetic really. Ouch, your poor elbow. Your account is so vivid! But running has finally made me see the advantages of what I believe is now called an “androgynous” build. 😄As a life-long flatty, I get on fine with a back fastening M&S sports bra. And my size is often the one left over to go on sale. 🤔Best wishes to both you and the towel rail for a quick recovery. 😊
Not even a bruise to my elbow luckily. I also had a figure like yours until about age 35, when I had a hysterectomy and then suffered even worse with PMT symptoms so was put on HRT for years. I went from having to label my chest “ this side up” to having DD or E bosoms. Really annoying as they really get in the way of everything and ensure that no button up garment ever fits properly again. At least mine are a normal size of 38DD so fairly easy to find a bra for .... unlike my poor daughter who is a 28EE and finds it nigh on impossible unless she wants to remortgage her house.
😳😱 I had no idea that could happen. Ai yi yi. I had a hysterectomy at 60 and turned generally pudgy for a while 😨 but luckily all that moved on eventually. And my bra size was the one thing that didn’t go up! 🤣
When I come back dripping in sweat & dying to cool down urgently, I have been known to get my husband to hoist my bra off me whilst I’m yelling ‘get it off me, get it off me!’ In desperation...
Yup. I used to have a gym membership and I’d do an hour in the gym and then swim 50 lengths for a cooldown, then no matter the temp of the shower afterwards the changing rooms always seemed so hot that I would be sweating for about an hour afterwards. Annoying as I used to go there before work so I’d arrive at work, red faced with my horrible work uniform sticking to me for ages , while my colleague who used to come with me would just have a gentle pale pink healthy glow to her. So unfair!!
After one run I had to shout my husband as I was totally stuck in my bra trying To get it over my head.. he said I was the worst stripper he had ever paid for... cheeky 🤪
It always feels like I’m doing some sort of martial arts manoeuvre to get myself out of my sports bra - all elbows, flailing limbs and a lot of wriggling! So I can totally understand how you did this! 😉
Oh goodness YES! The “armour plated running bra challenge” - I sometimes think it’s more difficult than the run! 😂 Talc under “the girls” helps a little- but only a little!
Glad you didn't break a bone in your elbow. Sounds like you need a place with no surrounding objects nearby to take the stupid thing off. Front door , back garden . I'm sure your neighbours won't mind. 🤣🤣
I'm with Granspeed I didn't have much to start with and now I've got even less with all the running.
Thankyou! I always thought the death struggle with my sports bra to get it off was unique to me - it's nice to know that I'm not the only one!! Also was unaware of the front zip option...will probably seek one of those out.....as yesterday I really thought I was going to loose the battle!!
Apply a light dusting of talc before putting your bra on - absorbs some of the sweat and makes getting it off easier. Also works for grippy socks. Or you could try WD40 😂
