Gait analysis - tick

Try on lots of shoes - tick

Try them out on a treadmill - tick.

Shopping trip into town today and I walked away with a flash pair of brand new running shoes.

I was going to let me tight Yorkshire side win through, get the gait analysis done, try on shoes and then find them cheaper on t'internet.

But somewhere from deep, deep inside, came this annoying voice that said, 'pay the money'. High street shops are struggling because they cant compete with the internet. But the internet cant do gait analysis, it cant let you run on a treadmill before you decide to buy them. It cant talk you through questions. And we lose all of that if these shops close.

So I bit down and handed over the well earned wad of cash and walked out a happy man. Next time, I'll shop on the internet :-)

Now looking forward to trying them out on my run tomorrow!

Happy running everybody

Mig

Nice!!😁 Was the gait analysis worth it ? Never had it done- never heard of it till coming on here!!

100% worth it Jacca. And its fascinating to try on different styles of running shoe and actually see on video what a difference it makes to how you run.

I would totally recommend it and it did steer me in the direction for the right kind of shoe.

I’m not sure I want to see how I run though.🙈

When I had it done in October, the camera focussed only on the knee down, especially concentrating on the ankles and feet. Been running in a pair of ON trainers since and I love them.

Nice treads! Enjoy on your run and let me know if they make a lot of difference! I am thinking about getting a gait analysis done too, not sure where to go for it, the only local one I can find is a proper chiropodist and costs a bit! That is the problem with North Devon, just don't have the variety you get in towns.

I would imagine that if you have to pay for it, then its gonna be much more thorough than the free ones in a running shop.

Way up the cost of travelling to get it done for free vs paying for it, but it's really worth doing.

I'll let you know how I get on :-)

New shoes even better ! You’ll be flying up that hill now . Haven’t you progressed- congrats on getting through the trials and tribulations.

Excellent . Nearly graduated !

Thank you. So far, despite a house and an office at work being full of sick people (literally everybody in my office), I've so far managed to stay germ and virus free. Just really hoping I can continue that good luck until the end of week 9!

Let’s hope so - come such a long way . All the more enjoyed when things don’t come easy .

Here’s hoping for you

I agree re supporting local shops. As you say we’ll miss them when they’re gone 😢. Nice looking runners👍

Congratulations on your new shoes. Running in them will be a joy.

I understand your dilemma about the high street vs internet.

Nice shoes! 👍 And well done on not buying on the internet! 😊

Interesting, and a good take on supporting the high street too. Where did you go?

RunningMigster profile image
RunningMigsterGraduate in reply toWenderwoo

I went to Up and Running.

I did start at another one... the one that has stuff that runners need! But I was in there quite a while without even being acknowledged. So I walked out.

That's a shame. I was thinking of offering to adopt the lad that works in my local runnersneed, he was so nice.

Fab shoes, I'm jealous.

Feel proud of yourself Migster! You did the right thing in buying from a proper shop and you know it! Nice looking footwear too! Enjoy your new shoes!

A.. shoe porn!

Looking great; totally agree about coughing up a little more to support local businesses.

May they bring you miles and miles of happy running!

I had my gait analysis done and bought some new shoes, they have made all the difference, went to a local runners shop and had one to one attention. On the internet would have bought shoes to match my outfit, rather than the best shoes for my feet... I have peripheral neuropathy so need shoes that don’t rub and with good grip

Good investment and supports local business

Well done. Great choice of shoes. I had my gait analysis done last week and purchased the same shoes as you

Nice shoes! I'm planning a trip to Up and Running in Bristol tomorrow. I'm still full of cold but hopefully I'll come back with some nice new shoes to help avoid a recurrence of sacroiliac joint issues when I start back. It seems only fair to buy the shoes where you have the gait analysis although it's always tempting to buy cheaper online - probably best not to search to see how much less you could have paid!

Yeah, I've avoided looking for them on the internet, just so I dont taint my good feeling :-)
