What exercise do people do on their rest days from running? X
Other exercise: What exercise do people do on... - Couch to 5K
Other exercise
Swimming mainly but only coz they got a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room 😂
Strength training at gym, yoga and .jillian Michael’s at home. I get my bike out occasionally I walk practically everywhere when not running
Swimming is fab if you can fit it in Dancing around your kitchen or lounge is fun too 🙂
I do boot camp at the gym
Walking at least an hour a day with my dogs
Well.. a rest day is a rest day. So depending on how I am feeling and how hectic life is - I have 1 or 2 rest days where I do not exercise.
I run 3 times a week, go to spin class twice a week and lift weights. If I'm too busy or feeling low etc then I drop 1 or even both spin classes.
It is important to let your body rest, enjoy them 😴💤😴💤😴
At the moment all I do is 3 days running each week but think I should do some strength exercises or something else as well. Am doing ok with just the running but so far (almost at end of week 7) it’s not made any difference to my weight or size although I do feel tonnes fitter. I am following slimming world so know my eating is healthy. X
I'm on w6 at the moment completed r2 this morning. Like you I also follow slimming world (don't attend meetings) just still follow the eating plan as my new way of life. I've noticed my weight isn't dropping off so much but my body is changing week by week (lost over 4 stone) but now it's pretty slow shifting (maybe I could be building muscle, I don't know) I still have a few stone to loose but I'm enjoying my running and exercises so much that the weight loss and body changing is now a bonus side affect of it 😁
Good for you, good luck with the weight loss.
I like weight training. I do my own thing, chat to others (having a chat is a great distraction) and work at my own pace. I lift as heavy as I can, it's good for tone strength and bone density.
I used to run a lot a few years ago and when I was running 8ks I noticed a change in my weight. I friend who was REALLY into running told me that once you get to running 15ks that it's hard to keep the weight on and he had to eat extra to maintain his weight. (I never did get that far! LOL).
Good luck, you are ahead of me, I'm on week 5.
Stretching, planks, squats, weights and walking. Lots of walking. And leg strengthening exercises to protect my knees. Oh, and open sea swimming when and where I can. Just like natural gym dislike, I don't like swimming pools either. Too many humans in both environments. They move in unpredictable ways, flap their arms and tend to ask questions.
I do two days a week gym session using elliptical and bike and walking 20 minutes each. Then some strength training.
Circuits once a week for an hour.
Swimming twice weekly for 30 minutes.
walk for around an hour a day at least, including on running days
I need to find more time in my day to fit more in that’s for sure! You lot all put me to shame 🙈
No don't worry - I don't do anything either! Although I am doing all my running on a treadmill at the gym so after my run I do some strength/resistance stuff but not a massive amount.
I try and do something everyday gym classes ( body pump and combat ) gym session , yoga and tap dancing . No change in my weight but feel better for it x
I swim 2-3 times a week and twice weekly on spin bike at the gym. Love swimming cos I’m a strong swimmer. Hate spin bike, but it’s only half an hour at a time and it really helps strengthen my legs. I think it’s really important though to have one day a week when you do NOTHING. I call it my Sabbath. It helps your body to do that. It stops you getting too obsessed about your fitness too. A sense of proportion is important.
I have built this up from when I first started running, and I now do a combination of:
Spinning
Bodypump
strength stuff
swimming
I've always hit the weights at the gym for years, so do that on non running days and sometimes on running days, after the run obviously! and if the weathers good on a Sunday I get the bike out and do a bit of off road cycling, it does sound like I'm always doing something but trust me there's a fair amount of chill/recovery time in-between all that! the main thing to remember is recovery time is key to avoid overtraining and try to offset injuries and also to keep your enthusiasm!!
I do yoga and some knee strengthening exercises.
I was swimming regularly before started C25K so continue on my off days and the sauna is great for aches and stiffness.
swimming as i was doing that before and the sauna is great after for stiff or achy limbs/joints
I swim once a week for an hour, brisk walking most other days. Very active in my job too lifting boxes etc! 😀
🏸 badminton 😊
I do weight training 2 days a week. Building my muscles and core work.
Not much other than complain how much I ache from day before! - I do always go swimming one morning and I am fairly active in work. I have a step counter, and in just 6 hours of work, I have done 8500 steps. I always plan to go to pilates but can never muster up the energy/enthusiasm when it gets close. I have found running easier as I just go off from home rather than having to drive somewhere for a specific time.
Well done to you for making it to week 6! When it comes to exercises I find that yoga and cycling are excellent rest day alternatives as they are gentle on the joints. I love a bit of zumba too if I can fit it into my schedule! Best of luck! xx
I found spin helped with stamina
I do 10,000 steps a day (Fitbit) whether it's a running day or not. I don't have time for anything else with work and kids x
An hour of weights in the morning, an hour or so of Pull-ups, push-ups, burpees etc in the afternoon, yoga three times a week, kettlebells the other three days. Also tried aquarobics this morning which was good fun and quite therapeutic
I do a single squat onto the couch 😂😂 I take rest days very seriously 😂😂😂
