When you can’t run or to change your routine, what exercise do you do? How about if you’re injured? I don’t want to stop cardio but got a really sore groin / thigh and need to rest it.
Thought on alternatives that won’t aggravate it?

Nothing! Just graduated so thought I should do some strengthening exercises. So did some squats and lunges, press ups and a plank. I'm a bit achey now! And my 5 and 2 year olds seemed to copy along with no problem!
I just up the stamina and core strength exercises that I do..that we all do...or should on our rest days...
If I am injured.. and it is okay to do so.. I use my cross-trainer...( also use it on icy days).
Many of us have a daily routine.. might be..yoga or similar and a set of exercises..
Folk out their own routines together.. and of course on some of your rest days, walking, or cycling or swimming... anything non impact
There are a load of great exercise routines that you can do..online... I use Body-Fit by Amy... she has some great ones for upper body work that I used after injury...
Thanks for the reply! I am tempted to swim again today as it’s low impact but I may jut take the day off and see how I feel tomorrow. I don’t want to make things worse!!
My job involves 10 hours of gardening a week so I try to do yoga in the afternoon on one of those days and the other I indulge in doing nothing as I’ve usually done way over my 10k steps 😁! However, I also try to fit in at least one trip to the gym for a cycle, floor and weight workout and I try to do 3x2 planks on my non-run days. I can’t swim so I’ve managed to find a work out routine that doesn’t wreck my dodgy lower back (by trial & error, no lunges or squats for me).
All good replies above. Remember to do some core exercises, various planks are good and bridges for your hips thighs. Wall press-ups are good if you can’t do full ones and arm exercises you need a strong core and arms to run well. Please get your groin/thigh looked at if the discomfort lasts much longer though. Have you tried ibuprofen and icing the area? But, as I say, please don’t leave it too long before seeking medical advice if there is no improvement.
Thanks Annie. Unfortunately I can’t take paracetamol but I have been using ice and heat. It feels better than yesterday today and I managed a little swim which was nice!
I often do a Joe Wicks HIIT ... although they’re tough, you feel so good after doing one 💪🙌
I’ve also got a weighted hula hoop & I absolutely love that! I couldn’t do it at first & it gave me huge bruises on my hips, but I’ve mastered it now & wouldn’t be without it, it’s a game changer! 🤩
