I started couch to 5k after Christmas with my daughter, sister and friend and have now finished. We generally now run 1 to 2 times a week between 30-40 mins. Throughout the whole process my daughter always gets a stitch every time we run. Can anyone suggest why and any ways to stop it . Thanks

Is she well hydrated? An adult needs to drink a minimum of 2.5 to 3 litres of fluids each and every day.

Drinking while running is another cause of stitch. No need to drink on any run under an hour duration if well hydrated.

Slow down and take deep breaths, normally clears it

We don’t drink whilst running and she drinks water at work but not sure how much. I’ll mention to her thanks .

It's really important to spread the water intake throughout the day, not just at work place. Many underestimate the dehydration problems, easy to overlook. Another problem is too much water too soon. Try it once and you'll never do it again.

One of the podcasts says that stitch can be due to running too fast... If it happens, slow right down and take deep breaths x
