W1R3 - stitch! :(

Went out for my third run of week one yesterday, felt great before I went, been looking forward to it since run 2! But I got stitch about 10 minutes in. Managed to complete the run still at a decent pace and slightly faster than last time, but still annoying! Anyone got tips to prevent stitch whilst running? Happened twice now, thanks!

If you are getting a stitch you probably need to slow down. The programme is not about speed but time. The early runs are designed to build up your body gradually and to prepare for the longer runs. You will find that you will need to slow down anyway in order to complete the longer running sections which are to come.

Well done for completing week 1, just take it a bit steadier on week 2.

Also look at when you ate before the run. The only near stitch I have had was when I ran within an hour of eating.

I used to get Stitch a couple of times in the programme, didnt know what caused it, and why it went away, but it did.

I realise this is of no use to you whatsoever :-)

Firstly.. slow down...not need for speed at all :)

Make sure you are hydrated and breathe very gently too...

Michael Johnson gives you a tip on how to avoid the stitch on week 2 if I remember rightly.
