Hi all. I've just started C25K after starting the first session about 8 times and giving up.

I got through my first session a couple of days ago. I found it tough, but completed it and ended up doing another 25 mins walk immediately afterwards.

I've done a fair amount of googling but can't find any recommendations about pace. I'm currently walking at 2.2 kph and running at 3.2kph - this is still tough but I'm wondering at what point I should start to increase? And what is the pace I should be aiming for?

I'm currently doing this on a treadmill so am also on a 1.5/2 incline because I've heard it matches wind resistance too. It's hard, I'm dreading the second session but I've been upping my exercise in prep for this and really have found that activity is much easier

The pace doesn't matter as long as you are using the running gait. You should be able to hold a conversation comfortably at whatever speed you set it. Pace can come later

Hi I'm a newbie too! No advice around pace because I really don't think it matters although I've definately seen an improvement in the short time I've been doing it. Good luck!

Trogdelight is correct, your overall pace isn’t important. The correct pace for you will be the one that enables you to complete the session.

Great advice, thank you. I'll focus on completing the 9 weeks and then work on my pace then :)

Hey Congrats I’m being so determined to start you kept at it 8 times.. That’s shows you have the determination to see it thru..

I was a totally beginner when I started and am heavily overweight so I was slow (still am pretty slow ) but I’m just about to start week 8 and am buzzing with the fact I can run 25 mins straight when I was crying in pain and frustration at weeks 1&2!!

Sod the pace your going out and completing your minuites that’s teally all that matters,, build your stamina gently and just get to your 5K, you can concentrate on your pace then.. I was running at 3.2kph when I started and I’m now running at 6.4kph.. and trust me if I can do it anyone can..

keep it up and the very best of luck with your C25K 😊

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

The guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and explains that your pace should be one at which you can converse clearly and ungaspingly. This will be different for each individual.

Enjoy your journey.
