Having run a bit of a gruelling 8k after work on Thursday I decided on a gentle 5k this morning. I can't believe how different this route (that I first ran just before Christmas) has changed after this lovely weather.
Barren hedgerows and muddy tracks transformed by delicate masses of cow parsley, leaves and grass that bright green you only get as spring is just ... well ... springing and those amazing candlesticks you get on horse chestnut trees. Oh and squirrels and loose chickens too.
And despite feeling like a gentle run Strava tells me I ran my best time over this route ever. Obviously got a spring in my step too!
A fantastic start to the Weekend! π

I was running last week and saw a peacock running along the pavement just ahead of me. He thought I was chasing him and didnβt veer off the pavement but he was panicking more and more as I was determined not to let him disturb my stride. I managed to pass him by and then I doubled back and had to chase him again. Once past I continued with my 5km.
When I got home, exhausted, I actually wondered whether I really did see a peacock or whether Iβd just been hallucinating.....ππ€·πΌββοΈ
Aah.. it does look lovely now Deb. Well done on your 8k, and its surprising how a longer run often improves your performance at 5k without you feeling the effort...
