if you increase your speed you increase impact, especially if you increase your stride length, which often creates heelstriking and increases the mechanical stresses on your body.
Runners need good core strength, especially as distances increase, so any core strengthening exercises you do will be beneficial.
It didn’t say that on the tin. And it didn’t say that I would reach this point and really want to be a runner...! Sigh. Exercise of other kinds it is, then 🤣
I think I'm having the same problem! I had a back spasm after Week 7 R1. Very painful and due probably to not having core muscle strength. So loathe though I am to do Pilates or the like, I am officially obsessed with running so I probably need to do something! Week7 R2 today was lovely in the sun (and i probably did it a day too soon but what the heck - I'm a run addict). Let me know what you find to strengthen your back.
Swim, cycle, climb.... walk... a day's hard gardening.. clean all the windows in the house...blitz the bathroom... squat or just find a great core strength plan to work on
