Hi folks... I've been suffering since wk3 run 2 with bad shin splints on my left leg. I've got good runners, I've been icing them and using foam roller. Today I got about half way through the run before they hurt but the final 5min run was excruciating and I just couldn't keep going. Any tips on dealing with shin splints would be v welcome? Really finding the final 5 min run a big step up this week just wondering if I should just keep running week 4 until I get it without having to stop or progress anyway?

When you say "good runners" what do you actually mean? Did you have gait analysis? Did you go into Sports Direct and try loads on? Did you order online shoes that they said were good runners? We had problems before we had gait analysis and got the correct, supportive and proper running shoes. No more shin splints.
Expensive? I suppose so, but would you go fishing using a bamboo stick and a bent pin? Go car racing with an old Volvo? Pole vault with an old stick you found in the woods? No, you would use the proper gear. As you should with running to make sure you do everything to avoid injury.
Sorry to say this but I agree with Rumour. The problem likely lies in your shoes. Suggest you rest from running, cycle instead to keep up your cardio, check out some shoes. Get advice from a runners shop. Don't know where you are, but in Canada we go to The Running Room. They are great, they check your gait and stock the better items, staff are knowledgeable. I like Saucony, New Balance and Asics.
Your shoes may look good, but the support may be worn out, or they might not be the right shoes for you.
Good luck.
