Best podcasts to run to?

I know many people run to music playlists, and I did that myself for the first few runs, But I’ve discovered that a funny podcast distracts me from the urge to stop running more than a bit of Britpop. Does anyone else find that and if so, can you recommend some funny podcasts which keep you smiling and moving? Someone told me doing your times tables in your head helps with the distraction but that got boring pretty quickly today!

Definitely podcasts are my thing. Adam Buxton's are a fave, Hiphop save my Life with Romesh I enjoy even though I don't really listen to Hiphop!

Loud clubland music for hill work as it gets me up them so I can stop listening to it

Etiquette and dress requirements of a man when on flats/steady training work

Anything you find an intrest should help or anything that requires thought so you just run while thinking about the problem on the podcast

Audiobooks work well too

I did all the Harry Potter books while running and then remembered sections to read to my children

Thanks. Yes thought about audiobooks too. Does it get annoying when You miss bits because of the coach prompting you to run/stop?

I didn't think of doing this. Thanks for the idea. I have my first 25 minutes run today and need a distraction to keep me going. I am going to try rhod Gilbert podcast as he is quite funny. I just don't think music will get me through so hopefully this will!

I’ve just started listening to this while I run too as someone else recommended it. Definitely funny enough that I don’t think about the pain!

I don’t mind what I listen to but I reward myself at the end with George Ezra and Paradise. I smiled this morning despite being soaking wet and knackered after 25 mins of hard slog. I might try Rhod Gilbert for the next one and see if I can smile through the whole thing.

That’s two votes for Rhod Gilbert!

I simpy use Classicfm. Its music I know, presenters Im used to, and sometimes the change in tempo and from one composer to another is good too.

Nice! I quite like the idea of finishing a run to a bit of ‘ride of the Valkyrie!

The archers omnibus does 2 runs for me as it lasts 75 mins but then I like the archers anyway- otherwise it’s Audi books.

I love the Archers...But I need to listen every day so it won’t last me a run!

Ha. The Archers! As I’m running through farmland most of the time that would be very apt.

Replying to my own question here but I had a go with Ricky Gervais is deadly Sirius and could only stand a few minutes. Was disappointingly rubbish. You have been warned. Thanks for all the tips. Loads to try out for the next few weeks!

I listen to Wittertainment, which is a bit long at about 1 hour 45 but Kermode and Mayo are interesting. Once you get the in jokes they are really good at distracting.

Hello to Jason Isaacs.

"The Infinite Monkey Cage" is also good - funny and informative if you like a bit of science with Brian Cox et al.

"Confessions" is good but can be very funny and makes me snort with laughter and have to stop.

Great suggestions. Thanks! I thought the Mark Kermode stuff was short but that must just be the quick reviews. Cheers!
