W5R3 - Going well but do I have to stop due to hip pain?

Hi. I was very proud to get through W5R3 on Friday and jog (very slowly) for a full 20 minutes. I was doubtful I could do it but I was told to trust the science behind Couch to 5K so I did and it worked! I am really enjoying jogging now BUT...

For the past month or so I've had a niggling pain on my left hip / groin. From what I've read up on the internet, it's likely to be a bursitis or hip muscle sprain from the repetive movement and increase in exercise. The best remedy seems to be to stop excercising and rest it.

But it's not debilitating and I'm over half way! Only four weeks to go!

Should I stop now? Can I carry on to the end and stop? Can I get by if I take a few asprin and put an ice pack (or bag of frozen veg) on it? Has anyone had a similar experience?

I’m no medic but it is safer to get proper advice from your GP. If Dr Google has already suggested rest, this is likely to be the advice you will get.

Please don’t just run on and ignore it or you could injure yourself more. When we have injuries which affect movement we automatically shift our weight around and put more strain on other places to try to avoid pain in the injured area. This can lead to further injuries.

Good luck!

Stop... we never run through pain and we don't advise taking painkillers which numb pain. You may not feel it, but the damage is still being done.

Go and get a medical diagnosis or see a Sports Physio... the runs will still be there:)
