I peeked out of the window when I woke - βοΈ hmmm not great. Following on from torrential rain on Thursday and all day yesterday itβs going to be very wet & muddy out there. I ache a bit from an over enthusiastic session at the gym on Thursday evening, & a surprisingly robust yoga session yesterday which seems to have worked muscles in odd places!! Just to add to it my nose is streaming & itβs 4 degrees out there....oh and there are no π in the fruit bowl π Enough of the excuses already - I am doing this. I find out my waterproof, strap on my trainers and off we go. 20 minutes - yikes - this is the furthest Iβve attempted since C25k in August last year. Jo assures me that Iβm good for this - I can do this - of course I can.....canβt I?? I start tentatively and Iβm anxious in the first five minutes to catch my breath and get into a rhythm. Two songs in & Iβm in a flow and on my way. The puddles are massive and I try to avoid the worst of the mud, but Iβm aware that Iβve got wet feet and Iβm slipping and sliding about on the path - the road that comes next is better. 10 minutes in and Iβve got the worst of the hills in my sights. Five minutes to go - a gentle down hill helps - Iβm going to do this thing π I finish on a mean little up hill towards the farm and surprisingly the track is the best ground of the day. I run past my wk5r2 end point and YEAY - Iβm done - Iβve done it π. Arms aloft π Olympic gold medal style π₯ Phew - been worrying about that one all week. I arrive home dripping wet and Iβm steaming as I do my stretches before heading in for a shower and some brekkie. Thatβs a real milestone for me since picking up an injury in September last year, and advised against running for a couple of months by the physio. During my stop start attempts since then wk5r2 is the furthest Iβve managed for various reasons.
Week six here I come! Happy running πββοΈ ππ»ββοΈ all - enjoy your weekend. πππ
