Feel like I’m running & running...& running!!

Hello everyone....I’ve actually stopped to write this...kidding....so as some of you know I’ve had a little running buddy the last couple of runs...well, they have been his runs & my pre-runs, he’s doing really well...and his next run will be Wk1r3...as you can see it’s going to take him longer than 9 weeks at this rate but that’s fine, it took me longer too! I’m not pushing him to go every other day because a) I don’t want him to feel pressured b) some days at school are harder than others & c) I don’t want him to feel like he’s disappointing me when he doesn’t feel like it so I’m just playing by ear & it’s going well so far 😊.

So, in May, it will be my 1st runniversary & when I started running I started running with a friend, well, we started C25k together...she’s a lot younger than me but about 5 stone heavier, she was doing slimming world too & doing ok but, she wasn’t dedicated enough to the programme & our visits to the park together became irregular so as I progressed on the programme I obviously left her behind, I remember my W5r3 run because she was there...running her W3r2, she said she kept watching me & was so proud when I was still running & made it to the dreaded 20 minutes! Since I graduated she has intermittently run with me but not since Christmas...she used to also come with me to slimming world but again, she was never dedicated enough so her losses & gains were always up & down.....now, there’s a Facebook site called ‘run Mummy run’ of which I am a member & so is she...anyway on Friday of last week she put a post on that made me feel like I really wanted to help her & that somehow I’d let her down....she put a photo of herself from behind, on a walk with her daughter & decribed herself as 17 stone with her height etc & that she was desperate to change this & was basically looking for encouragement from other mummies who had been in this situation....so I replied....& I said that I wanted her to start C25k again with me, I was willing to run with her again in the park to help her achieve her goals...so, on Monday & this morning I ran the first two runs of week 1 with her...so now I have my little William & my friend Katy that I have taken under my wing...I am going to give her all the help I can because I remember last year when she did complete week 2 she was so happy with herself...I can’t believe that I am actually helping someone to start running...and that I am running their runs & my own! Which is ok while they’re on the early runs as I am using them as my warm ups....who am I these days? Even the postman commented this morning on how I was doing....?! 😂😂

Happy running my lovely family xx

Well done, I often refer to week 1 as ‘weak 1’ as it’s surprising how weak we are & it’s not until we start the programme that we realise?!! You’ve come to the right place for encouragement, help, advice & kicks up the butt when needed!!! 😉

Well done! That’s lovely to read! I’d love to help someone do the programme, especially my 14 year old son! But that will never happen!! 😂

I said that about my daughter - also 14 (and a right Kevin) - but after nearly a year of me doing this, she's just started, bless her. Red as a berry by the end but so far so good!

Such an ambassador for the program. I wish we could give out medals for those that go on to spread the word. Well done, and wish eveyone the best of luck from us, we are rooting for them.

Carry on like this and you'll become The Pied Piper of Running! :) Seriously, it's a wonderful thing that you are doing for your friend (and your son, of course!). Get your friend to post on here too, then we can give her a helping hand when it gets a bit harder. :) x
