Is doing 2 runs in one day advisable?

All's been going well til W6 when due to unmitigating circumstances I missed W6R1 organised run on Monday and couldn't squeeze it in yesterday. So the question is, as it's W6R2 at the club this evening, is it ok for me to do R1 at lunchtime then R2 at 6pm? Or should I just skip R1 altogether and just do R2?

No please do not do two runs today, that is inviting overuse injury.

Well what i think I would do if you think you can and if you want to continue with the group is try run 2 tonight. If you do it great, then either repeat as your second wk 6 run, or do run 1 next, followed by run 3, that way you are completing the full programme just a tiny different way round.

If you dont manage it tonight go back to run 1 and stay with the programme as is.

Alternatively just run with the group but do run 1. Presumably you are doing some runs alone so you can catch up over the weekend perhaps?

Good luck.

Thanks, yeah that makes sense. And yes I do each 3rd weekly run on my own so just doing and switching R1 and R2 round isn't a problem and is what I'll do this week. But because of 7 day week it would mean that I'd still not have a rest day between R3 and W7R1 at the club. If that makes sense? So I suppose missing out W6R3 25 mins run isn't too much of a deal if W7's runs are all 25 mins anyway. Would missing one 25 mins run out of 4 be a bad thing? Thanks again

Once you've gained experience and your body reacts well to frequent and long runs, then you can slot in back-to-back daily runs but not two runs on the same day. Some of us got grotesque injuries simply for not taking rest days, let alone running twice a day at your early stages. Don't get tempted, man!

Never.... and that is a mild response. I would follow Millsie-J 's suggestions:)

Haha Thanks for seconding Millsie-J 's suggestions, it reinforces the concensus. I am a wiser runner (term used loosely) now. Thanks again
