Does anyone think walking / running speed affects progress? I am worried my “brisk walk” isn’t brisk enough and then I am jogging too slow? Just done my first run of week two and I am amazed at how much I enjoy it, just wondering if I should push myself more.

Probably not. You should be able to keep a conversation going with a running partner whilst doing each session. Save fast for after 😁

I used to think my brisk walk wasn’t exactly “brisk” especially towards the end of the 30 minutes but I have plodded on to week 6 and am walking faster but still running like a snail 🐌 I think slow is best 😊

Do not worry for even a second about speed. Slow and steady is the mantra for this program... obviously, the brisker the walking the better, but, as long as you’re doing the allotted time of walking and running.., then you’re doing great👍🏃‍♀️

Slow and steady is the way to go ... don't worry about speed or distance, that may or may not come in time. The important thing is to trust in the program, do what your coach tells you and you'll get there!

Well done for getting to W2 and enjoying your running.

Keep up the good work ... happy running!

If you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... the recommended pace is outlined.

If you are new to running then an easy conversational pace is adequate to trigger adaptation without risking injury. This post may also be of interest to you healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Try increasing your pace in the last third of each workout, if you feel you want to push, but if your breathing is not deep and full then you will not maximise your adaptation.

Take care.
