There’s quite a few runners here who have this gift... and it is a gift. You’re a new runner still, your comfortable pace will increase over the coming months, but having that slower pace in your locker will remain. My daughter is redoing C25K and I’ve been running alongside her... at a pace I could match with a brisk walk... and I’m loving it! This pace will be going into my next formal 10k preparation that starts in August.
What would be terrible to be doing right now would be running too fast. Your pace will give you so many more benefits every single run to both health and fitness, and let’s face it, that’s why we came here!
Consolidation is all about making the run more comfortable, not faster. There’s a time for working on pace (if you want) but it isn’t consolidation.
I think this is me too. Sometimes when I’m running I just know I could be walking it faster. I’m just hoping eventually like everything else, it will improve. I’ve been watching the Japanese Slow Running videos and practising the techniques which I think are brilliant for someone like me.
Thank you everyone for your replies- I will keep plugging away! It is a desire to increase my fitness that led to me beginning this. It was very poor so I suppose it’s not surprising that I am so slow. But my stamina in improving and hopefully my fitness will too.
