What speed is good at week 8?

Started Week 8 last night. I did it in the gym because of the weather. I'm sure I run faster in the gym but wondering what sort of speed we are expected to do. I do 3.5 mph on the brisk walk with a 3.5 incline. Speed up to 4.6 for run and reduce incline to 1.5. Both the incline and speed had to come down as I was running - 28 minutes! I ended on 4.2 with no incline. I definitely would not be able to maintain 4.6 for that time. What is the experience of others?

You are going to get a LOAD of replies telling you speed is irrelevant and slow and steady wins the day! :)

Speed is irrelevant at this stage, loads of time for that later.

Slow and steady wins the day! Just aim to complete each run.

Good luck runner!

The answer is whatever speed you're doing that means you can run for 28 mins straight! That's not to be sniffed at 😀

Is that the speed of the 20 year old man or the 83 year old lady?

Do you mean the one with asthma or the one with old leg injuries?

You are doing great.

Your speed is your speed.

There is never any mention of speed or distance requirements anywhere in the NHS C25K programme literature, so obviously you do not need to worry about it.

As Flick says... Speed is irrelevant and Slow and steady is the way :)

It is true... just run, and enjoy :)

Your comfortable speed is the best speed. No other. Mind you, if you push yourself beyond your body design and ability then speed will defo help you get injured. Not 'might' but 'will'.

As always, everyone who got injured will tell you it was their fault through their decisions (and sometimes horrible luck).

Your choice! ;)

Your comfy speed is the only speed! Enjoy it. 😄

You might find it interesting to look up 'Niko Niko pace' online.

Go as quick as you like :) If it's too quick it won't be long before you don't like it ;)
