Wk6 R1- but oh my gosh!!

Why was W6 R1 so hard??? 😤 It looked so innocent, especially after completing the 20 min run! Yes, I'm overweight, have MS (but feeling the best I have since the diagnosis, thanks to this app) but my breathing certainly wasn't coming naturally! Doing the 'breathing in through my nose & out through the mouth' thing, along with a few gasps I guess! I feel my confidence has been knocked a bit this morning-I did complete the run but it was a struggle & I'm nervous about the remainder of Week 6 now! I know I've come a long way since Wk1 R1 when i thought I was going to pass out so maybe I just need to remind myself of that & just crack on!

I found week 6 the hardest! Having read lots on here I think it's the toxic 10 - your body takes that long to adjust to running, then you stop! My legs felt like jelly. Just keep at it and it gets better. Slow yourself down a bit too and don't get hung up on breathing in through the nose out through mouth. As long as you're taking long breaths that's good. Still hard but nothing is easy!

Thank you, that makes me feel a lot more positive! Good to know I'm not the only one who struggled too! The advice on the breathing makes sense, I'll give that a go on Sunday!

Definitely just breathe in when your body prompts you to, and through your mouth, you need as much oxygen as possible 😤😨

Thank you, that sounds like good advice. I’ve never run before starting the Couch to 5k app so maybe I’m too focused on trying to do everything they say by the letter rather than finding my own way. 👍

Me too, I have never run in my life, or done any sports that I wasn't forced to do at school and it involves a lot of multitasking.

I would say that at week 6, you've crested that hill. You are now heading for the home straight.

Well done 🤩🤩

Thank you, that's very encouraging! I've just completed Wk6 this morning, it was hard work but I wasn't going to give up! I've relaxed on the breathing & focusing on taking long breaths & I think it helps. So Week 7, here I come (after my lovely rest day)!!!!!
