maddness! lol oooh heck 90 secs is tough, think I'm running wrong what was that about heals and as for breathing in for 4 and out for 4 - I can't do that, breaths barely in before i've puffed it out again, I'm getting confused, blimey still wk2 run 1 is done!
Oh gosh, running, breathing AND counting!! - Couch to 5K
Oh gosh, running, breathing AND counting!!
Lol, think we've all been there! I can't do the breathing in for 4 steps either and always put it down to asthma and would get breathless very quick. However, i've established I can breathe in and out to 2 steps each. If I slow my breathing down to that pattern then I don't get breathless!
I can't do the breathing in time thing either - hasn't done me any harm - well done on completing the run
i do 3 and 3. But can't count beyond that anyway! lol
I don't bother with the breathing thing, I'm asthmatic too and would never be able to do it. I can't breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth either, as Laura says to do. No doubt there are good and bad ways to breathe but I just do what works for me.
When I'm really tired I just concentrate on the out breath, trying to make it a bit longer so that the in breath should then become deeper and it helps me feel calmer and more optimistic about completing the run. I found week 2 one of the hardest. Well done and keep going, your breathing control will develop as you get fitter.
I can't do the breathing thing either, and as for breathing in through my nose, no chance, I am puffing like a good un! Anyway I think we all have our own way of doing the breathing thing which gets us to the end so why change it?
Well done and keep it up, IT DOES get easier! X
I have never heard of the breathing thing, may give it a try to try and distract me from the pain of the burn! haha x I think I need to download the nhs c25k at the moment I am on an app called rundouble
There is a post on the guardian running blog all about breathing technique, the main conclusion of which is that the average runner should just do what comes naturally and that when working hard it is physically impossible to breathe in enough volume of air through the nose. I'll try to find a link, it's worth reading.
Found it. theguardian.com/lifeandstyl...
