Can I do my run on the spot in the kitchen

Am I cheating if I do the run without going out? Had planned to go out and do run this afternoon but it’s absolutely chucking it down. I was doing walking workouts at home before I started C25K. If I put in the same level of effort, does it still count? I’m on W1R3.

I did one of my week 1 runs inside due to the weather but I didn't feel it was quite the same energy expenditure so I did it again outside as soon as I could.

I actually like running in a bit of rain as it helps keep me cool - not sure about the torrential stuff though ...

Mmm... maybe now is the time to get used to the rain! It kind of goes with the territory, I'm afraid! Good luck

Thanks! Don’t want to cheat but it’s foul out and I figure something has to be better than nothing!

Get out there and enjoy a warm shower/bath and a hot drink when you get back! Or if you really don’t want to face the rain, simply put it off for another day, there’s no shame in taking things slow just as long as you keep going! Good luck xx

I will not run on ice and when the weather is like that I wait and cross train until it has gone or go to the gym and do a treadmill run. I think it is quite hard to get the same level from running on the spot. I had a friend who used to “run” on her wiifit but eventually she went outside and could not believe the difference. If you really don’t want to go out wait until the weather is better and then carry on from there. Light rain is actually quite a pleasure to run in if you have a wind proof jacket and a baseball cap, I find.

It is better than nothing, but it isn't the same. Propelling yourself forward really uses far more energy and cardiovascular effort. Running in place also stresses your joints a bit more, as you're striking the ground near vertically which is an unnatural position.

You can take a second rest day? There's room for a second rest day and still being within the 'week'.

Or just ignore my nonsense and run anyway! Though you might find your next outdoor run more difficult since you mightn't have made the gains you expected.

If it's so bad you feel you can't go out, leave it until tomorrow. Although I have had to learn to puddle jump, otherwise I think I would still be on week 2 or 3.

That said the milder temperature nearly did for me this morning 😥

...I agree, running in the heat is much harder than the rain!

Just go out. You will be fine. Wet but fine. The shower and hot cup of tea afterwards will be fabulous and restorative. Always loads of reasons not to go.....
