Can’t do my run!!!

Beckisjourneyto10k profile image

Hey guys it’s Sunday, it’s too hot to go out for a run now and my hubby is working this evening so I can’t leave the children to go out later, I want to complete my last run of week 2 but can’t fit it in... I don’t have a treadmill (although considering investing in one) but I do have a indoor bike could I adapt for this run?

Running and cycling are very different. If you can’t do anything else and want some exercise, jump on that indoor bike. But it won’t replace the run I’m afraid. Tomorrow?

Don't panic 😀. You can do this run at the next available opportunity - and no, you won't lose any fitness gained by missing a day or two. The programme is yours to run as it fits into your life. We all have to miss runs occasionally rue to life, weather, illness etc.

As Jay66UK says you can't swap cycling for running in the programme but you can do cycling tonight and, if it fits in, run tomorrow - win, win 😄

As Jay66UK says, running and cycling are different beasts and you can give yourself a good workout on the bike, but it doesn't mirror the impact of running, so will not trigger the same muscle adaptation, so cannot count as your run.

Modern weather forecasting and planning ahead are essential to every runner.

Thank you everyone, tomorrow looks like it’s going to be cooler, I’ve planned to run weds, Friday and one day over the weekend so I won’t be running two days in a row, still getting used to this running malarkey and fitting it around family and work ect trying to get my timings right, have to get my run in first thing when hubby gets home from work (he works nights so I can work in the day) see if that works for us x
