Yes it does.

Just take your time, don’t try to rush or push too hard. It might be difficult to start off with, but it gets easier as you get stronger so stick with it. I am 40 years old, 5 stone overweight and just started week 4. I’ve never run before this in my life, nor did I think I would enjoy it, but I’m loving it. At the start I struggled to run for 60 seconds. Today I ran for 5 minutes, twice.

Wow that’s incredible and gives me hope I am mid 40’s and at least 5 stone overweight. I am only in week one but at run 3 today 😊 can hardly breath and cruse some of the 60 seconds for talking to long 😂 but I get through somehow. Keep going you are doing amazing 😉

Yes it really does work - it is well thought out, structured, and if you follow it through you will be ready for each next step that you need to do. It is not about speed - move as slowly as you need to as long as when you are running both feet are off the ground and when you are walking you Keep moving. This community will provide inspiration, reassurance and encouragement all the way. Just start - one foot in front of the other...

Yes it does! Struggled in week one but now I’m in week 8 doing 28 minute runs!

I’ve just started too! I did run 2 today I was very nervous but it was better than run 1 - just take it really slowly and follow the links on the app for help and advice - and keep posting I have found everyone really really supportive! We can do this!😆

Yep it really works - if you have not run before then week 1 run 1 is a shock to the body but from then it's amazing - you will feel amazed and really pleased with yourself - just take it slowly- have rest days and follow the app 😀 enjoy 😀

YES! It really does work! Read the C25K FAQ page before you start.

Take the runs slow and steady and if they are too hard, slow down even more. I struggled in the early weeks - overweight and out of shape. I graduated last weekend and can now run for 30 minutes without stopping and could probably go further now. I want to say I can run it easily, but easy isn't the right word. It's still hard work, but I can do it and my legs aren't even sore anymore.

Good luck!

It definitely works. I had never run in my life (had a doctor’s note at school for cross country). After loosing my hearing and balance 6 months after turning 50 I struggled even to walk without falling. 12 months after that I was diagnosed with breast cancer and after a mastectomy got really low. Macmillan gave me a personal trainer to help get my Me fit and after a few weeks she suggested I do some interval running on the treadmill. I explained that “I don’t do running.” But the seed was sown.

Soon after I decided to try C25K. Now aged 53, nearly 2 years later, I am a runner. It took me 18 weeks to graduate C25k due to having further surgery after completing week 8 and having to start again.

But I got there in the end and then went on to conquer 10k.

In fact my last run was nearly 16k and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

So to cut a long story short, it definitely works.

Good luck. If I can do it I’m sure you can. 😀👍🏽

That is an inspiring comment.

Yes!

I was determined not to be fat and 50, so started 7 weeks ago. Last run I ran for 25mins ... when I started I could barely do 1minute! I go really slowly, but the speed will come later. I haven’t lost any weight, but I am losing cm from my tummy, hips and thighs. Measure yourself first! You will be great!!

If I can do it you can. I’ve only just graduated but from barely being able to get through the sixty seconds I am now running for half an hour. Still hard but with practise I’m sure I will get better.

Good luck 😉 you will be fine.

Yes! Don’t get tempted by speed or that the programme must be finished in 9 weeks. There may be weeks when you just can’t fit in three runs because of work, weather ( not really an excuse now!) and life getting in the way. ( I took about 4 months in the end). The most important thing is getting out of the door, trusting the programme and believing in yourself and not giving up. You can do it- lots of us have and it feels great!

Hi it really does work. I graduated yesterday. 9 weeks ago I couldn't run at all now I can confidently run for 30 mins! I'm 45 and 2 stone overweight but I have lost weight since starting the app.

Just take it slow and steady and you will do it.

Good luck xx

Yes it does work. The last I ran was as a teenager, I'm now a 40 something and last night I ran for 5 minutes, three times. I didn't die and it was better than I thought! Good luck x

I'm turning forty this year and was 5 stone overweight! Just finished week 6 and was sooo proud that I have just run for 25 minutes none stop last night! I also struggled with the first run (and many others) and it is taking me longer than the standard 9 weeks due to illness, injury and then motivation to get back into it. I can not believe how far I have come and with my healthy eating (but still enjoying myself I have lost 16 pound since new year). This is a great program and this site has really motivated me to keep going where I would of normally gone back to my old ways by now.

Hiya! Yep it certainly does work. I started in June last year at the age of 47 having never run for anything other than a bus or a cricket ball (run is pushing it in both cases!) before. I graduated in August and have subsequently carried on running taking in 10k runs and almost 30 parkruns. This Sunday I will be taking part in my first half marathon!!

The programme is perfect, take your time, don't over do it, enjoy it and read the stuff on here!

Good luck to you!

It really does work! I had not run before doing C25K last August, and at 46 years old felt very unfit. I now run 5-6k 3 x week, and actually love running! At a health check a couple of weeks ago my doctor high-fived me, as I have taken inches off my waist and my fitness levels have skyrocketed! Running has also kept some low-level depression at bay. So many amazing benefits just from doing what humans are built to do.

Good luck! You can do this, one run at a time. Be patient, take it slow and be persistent. And watch your fitness and confidence grow. 🏃‍♀️😀

Yes it works! Never thought at 65 I would run 5k, ok it takes me 40+ minutes but it’s more than I’ve ever done before! One step at a time, you can do this!

I started in the last week in Jan (60 years old and 17st 4lb. I ran as slow as was humanly possible to make sure I could finish the runs. Have now done one Park run and one 3k fun run, with huge amounts of encouragement from other runners and marshalls. Last in both races, but am running without being completely out of breath, and am now 16st 1. It works, and good luck.

Yes it really works, but go slowly and don't think that you have to finish in 9 weeks. I had to repeat a couple of weeks. I couldn't run at all, but managed to run/walk 10k last year. At the moment I'm repeating wks 7-9 of C25K and did 25 minutes up a hill yesterday. So YES it works, if you remember that you can do it, you are capable of more than you think, and go at your own pace. You're still going faster than the people on the couch!!!

As you can see from all your replies, it does work.

You may find the first run a shocker, I certainly did, but I didn't let that put me off, each run is serving a purpose, and if you are struggling SLOW DOWN. take your rest days and tick off each run.

Enjoy it🙂🏃‍♀️

Hi,yes i'm I am coming to the end of week 2 and as a fairly unfit 51 yr old bloke it's so far so good. Take it easy and go at your win pace. Good luck and stick to the plan. Don't do too much too soon
