First park run tomorrow! I'm excited and nervous in equal measure!
First parkrun tomorrow: First park run tomorrow... - Couch to 5K
First parkrun tomorrow
Whoo hoo! That first running event is very special. Good luck and have fun. And be sure to post a report for us after the run.
I am sure you will rock it!
Same here Scoobydavid , and same feelings. I've woken up at 04:00 full of nervous energy. That wasn't quite the plan. Good luck
I'm aiming for my first 5k today, not a park run though, and I'm nervous about it too. I'll be so disappointed if I can't do it. But I'll try and remember that slow and steady does it! Good luck to you Scoobydavid and you too 90ldfinch .
Report back later, okay?
Go for it.....good luck!
Enjoy.... I'll never forget my first, it's a great social event!!!
Good luck, you will be fine just take it steady! Didn't sleep much the night before my first one either but the support from everyone there and the camaraderie of running with lots of other people will carry you along - enjoy it!
Let us know how it goes. I have registered for parkrun and I'm waiting for my running partner to register too. I'm sure you'll love it - good luck - you should be setting off in a few minutes!
Thanks everyone.
Ah it was great. Hardly slept! Kept checking clock every hour. Had all my stuff ready.
Really good encouragement from marshalls and whoopeee got a PB of 35.51 mins. Much faster than I usually do!
Great news, Scoobydavid! I'm just wondering how much faster the whole excitement of the parkrun made you go - how many minutes did it cut of your 5k time?
I generally run more than 5k as I'm now doing the bridge to 10K. But last time I ran 5K it took me 45 mins so on the parkrun it's taken nearly 10 mins off my time. Doing the longer distances and with time (and the race atmosphere) has improved the times. I did push it as I didn't want to be last and hold everyone up in the carpark!
Well done
I too ran my first one and the (lack of) sleep sounds familiar! The one I did only had 120-odd runners so I believe is comparatively small but it was still daunting!
I didn't run a pb despite the occasion BUT I usually run flat and the course had a big hill you have to negotiate twice so I finished in 34:40 (pb is 33:37). I was in a new town and park etc too so it was interesting to find out how I reacted to that- not too well as it happened!!
Brilliant that you went out and smashed it
