Soon as starting jogging terrible cramp in both legs on calf’s and sharp pain in ankles and shins! Could only do 2 runs! Any suggestions to prevent cramp? Happened in week 1 too but not as bad 🙁

Proper hydration is important to prevent cramps as is good breathing techniques.

Try to increase hydration in general and especially the day before a run.

Before you start your warm up walk do some deep breathing exercises, use your arms too if you like, inhale for 5 raising your arms out and up as you do and gently return with the exhale for 5 seconds. Imagine you're fuelling your oxygen tank. Your muscles need oxygen and water to operate properly. Try to focus on what you're doing rather than anything else and you'll be super relaxed for your warm up 👍😊

Thank you I’m bad at drinking probably only drink 2-3 drinks a day! Will definitely do this 🙂

Sam -as a fellow lizard who rarely drinks enough water, I can tell you the old maxim drink your water today for running tomorrow. I won’t say how much because there are so many phoney sites giving advice on whether the water can include tea/coffee etc. Just to say - sipping regularly and often throughout the day is better than a load up in desperation.

What makes you think I’ve learnt my lesson??? ;)
