Having a nightmare choosing running shoes. Took back Karrimors from Sports Direct. Then went to Runners Need and had gait analysis. Came home with Saucony Guide ISO which felt amazing in shop. Wore them around house for an hour and got pins and needles and red little toe! So back there to change them tomorrow. Who knew this could be so difficult!

Oh that’s a pity. Maybe they’re just too small ? I do like saucony and ordered a pair today from sportshoes. I may have to return them if the size is not right. I had a bad experience with hokas so I’m going back to what works for me. It can be difficult and expensive to get the right ones.

It’ll be worth it in the end. Comfy feet and no injuries 😊

It's often said that we should shoe shop in the late afternoon when our feet are likely to be at their biggest, so worth a thought?

I bought a size bigger than what I normally take. The Ascis shoes have been great 3 runs down really comfortable from day 1 no rubbing no blisters

I had the same problem with karrimors I got from sports direct. In the end I left it till tea time when.id been on my feet all day. I went to a Nike shop and tried on lots of pairs I finally bought a pair a size bigger than my normal shoes. They are so comfortable.

I had a similar problem. Had gait analysis and got done New Balance which felt fine in the shop but a bit tight when got home. Swapped them for half a size up and have been great since. Using the extra holes to lock your laces and keep your heel in place is useful if you have a bit of extra room in the shoes.

Makes me feel better hearing I’m not the only one ! Shall go back later today and change them.

I had a similar problem with Brooks Adrenaline. One run and my right foot hurt for days. I went back to Runners Need and swapped them for some Brooks Ghost's, which come in a Wide fitting. I love them, so comfortable and grip my heel well without having to use the extra heel lock eyelets. Comfortable shoes are the only essential bit of kit I have bought. I have just completed W7R1.

Adrenalin come in a wide fit too

I had terrible trouble with trainers. I got a pair of New Balance from a place called Sweatshop & they were great - the staff were really helpful & I had gait analysis- this was quite a few years ago. Went back about a year ago to get new ones & got totally ripped off by them. The staff this time around didn't seem to know what they were doing & didn't seem to care. The trainers they sold me made my big toes go black. I took them back & they said it was because I wasn't tying them right & showed me a technique of tying laces that runners use. I still got black toes - i went back again & they refused to give me a refund - said it was company policy not to give refunds (?). They did exchange them & I got a refund on the insoles (which I've since been told are a rip off & not worth the money) I now have a pair of Asics but I haven't really had a chance to use them as shortly after that I had to give up due to ill health. I'm starting back on Sunday so hopefully the trainers will be OK. Sorry - bit of an essay but all in all it's made me really wary of buying trainers & having gait analysis. I've also since found out that Sweatshop had been taken over by Sports Direct (worst retailer in the world) & have now closed down.

What a terrible time you had, sounds really bad.

Sports Direct gave me bad advice and managed to get refund! It’s a minefield!

Glad you are better and getting out running again 😊

in reply toSuperstarnewbie

It really is a minefield! Hopefully these Asics I now have will be OK. No more black toes! 😂

I wear one and a half size bigger than my regular shoes. I found the Saucony not wide enough in the toe box, as far as I am aware they don’t do a wide feet for ladies. I now always buy Brooks or New Balance in a D fit.

But........for my trail shoes I bought a pair of men’s shoes....again Brooks.......men’s shoes standard width are a D fit.

Hope you get sorted soon.

Thanks For advice 😊

I know it sounds silly as I am sure you have been wearing shoes for ages......but make sure you don’t tie your trainers too tight. As your feet get hotter they will get bigger and that’s where rubbing begins

I’m only just about to start W3. I’m in a pair of super-cheap Decathlon own brand shoes. Not looking forward to the process of getting an proper pair!
